Job Description

Horrocks is a respected and values-driven company committed to delivering exceptional construction and engineering services. Established with a strong focus on integrity, innovation, and community responsibility, Horrocks prides itself on fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees are recognized as the company's greatest asset. The firm specializes in construction management, inspection, materials testing, and various engineering disciplines, serving a diverse range of markets including transportation, commercial, municipal, and industrial sectors. Known for its dedication to quality and safety, Horrocks maintains strong relationships with clients, vendors, and the communities where it operates, emphasizing ethical practices and sustainable development.

The role of Inspector at Horrocks is a critical position responsible for ensuring that all phases of construction projects meet strict plans and specifications in compliance with Washington Department of Transportation (WADOT) standards. This role demands a professional who is meticulous, safety-conscious, and capable of operating independently while coordinating effectively with contractors and project managers. As an Inspector, you will conduct thorough contract item inspections on WADOT transportation construction projects, monitoring adherence to contract documents and specifications to guarantee quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Your daily responsibilities will include performing field inspections, interpreting complex construction plans and contracts, documenting project progress meticulously, and utilizing specific software applications such as Site Manager and AASHTOWare to record work reports and payments. This position requires hands-on materials testing experience using specialized equipment like nuclear density gauges and concrete testing tools when necessary. As travel and vehicle operation are inherent to this job, candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, passing a Motor Vehicle Record check as part of the hiring process.

Horrocks values professional development and invests in its employees by providing opportunities to obtain and maintain essential certifications such as WADOT TTCP, Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL), and other industry-specific credentials. The company fosters an environment that encourages ongoing learning and skill enhancement to support career growth and improve project delivery. The position offers a competitive base salary combined with award-winning benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, generous paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with employer matching.

Joining Horrocks means becoming part of a dedicated team that prioritizes community impact, employee well-being, and professional excellence. If you have a solid background in transportation construction inspection, materials testing, and a commitment to upholding the highest safety and quality standards, this role offers the opportunity to thrive within a company that values your expertise and supports your career advancement.
