The role of Representative - Inside Sales at Wesco is a dynamic position designed for individuals passionate about sales and customer service. This employment opportunity offers an hourly wage between $28.00 and $35.00 with an additional opportunity to earn commissions based on individual sales performance, making it ideal for motivated professionals eager to maximize their earning potential. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for interacting with existing customers to increase sales of Wesco’s extensive product and service offerings. Your main objective will be to proactively up-sell and cross-sell products, ensuring customers receive added value during their buying experience while fostering strong, long-term relationships. Collaboration with outside sales teams is a key component, as you will work together to meet and exceed sales goals.

As an inside sales representative, your daily activities will include obtaining orders through email and telephone communications, verifying and entering order information accurately, transferring orders to the fulfillment team, and managing customer expectations regarding stock availability and delivery timelines. You are expected to be a proactive problem solver, identifying opportunities to increase sales by suggesting related products and leveraging customer buying history. Qualifying leads generated by marketing efforts or passed from outside sales teams and national accounts will form part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will prepare and follow up on verbal or written quotations, striving to secure orders or understand reasons for lost sales.

Maintaining accurate records is essential, including reviewing open customer orders and taking timely action on orders at risk of delayed delivery. You will be responsible for managing backorder reports, customer expediting reports, notifications, and relaying industry trends, competitive pricing, and customer feedback to company management. The capacity to independently identify and define problems and select appropriate solutions is important, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

This position requires a candidate with solid communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to market concepts effectively to both existing and prospective clients. While the role involves general supervision, independence in work approach is valued. Candidates should be willing and able to travel between 0% and 25% as needed. Job Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of experience in sales or sales administration

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • bachelors’ degree preferred
  • requires knowledge and experience in sales and sales administration
  • still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills, however fully competent and productive professional contributor (2-4 years)
  • experience in security sales highly preferred
  • familiar with Microsoft Office, and ability to perform basic computer skills

Job Duties

  • Obtains orders through email and telephone calls, verifies and enters items, transfers orders to fulfillment, explains stock-outs and expected delivery dates
  • increases orders by suggesting related items, explaining features, and checks customer’s buying history
  • owns, qualifies and develops opportunities passed from marketing, outside sales, and national accounts
  • identifies ways for continuous improvement of processes
  • prepares, generates, and follows up on verbal or written quotations to secure orders, or determine reason for loss of order
  • reviews open customer order reports and takes action on open items, including those items that may be at risk in meeting customer’s promised delivery date
  • maintains distribution system backorder report, associated customer expediting report and notices, and customer notification
  • reports industry trends, competitive pricing and customer feedback to management
