The Food Runner role at the Biltmore is a vital position dedicated to supporting servers, supervisors, and kitchen staff in delivering quality dining experiences. This part-time flex position involves working an average of 20 to 29 hours per week, typically scheduled between 11am to 7pm or 2pm to 10pm, with weekend availability required. Food Runners assist primarily by organizing and pulling food orders, traying up dishes, and delivering meals timely and accurately to guests. Additionally, they contribute to overall dining room cleanliness, stock maintenance, and provide support wherever needed within the service team.
In this role, Food Runners must be proactive and attentive, always anticipating guests’ needs and responding promptly to create positive interactions. Their duties extend to monitoring sanitation and cleanliness standards in dining and kitchen service areas, supporting hosts, bartenders, and servers with stocking condiments, folding napkins, and clearing soiled dishes. Food Runners are also expected to understand table and seat numbers, proper table setup, and operational policies to maintain seamless service flow.

Job Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull 25-50 pounds
- Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds on a serving tray above shoulder level with one hand
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to work in variable temperature and weather conditions including exposure to fumes, dust and chemicals
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
- Ability to endure physical movements such as stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching overhead
Job Qualifications
- Previous guest or customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge or prior experience working in a full-service restaurant

Job Duties
- Deliver the correct food items promptly and accurately to appropriate guests
- Offer appropriate condiments tableside with courses
- Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly and maintain positive guest relations
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
- Communicate guest requests to servers, kitchen staff and bartenders
- Maintain knowledge of table and seat numbers, section assignments and proper table set-up
- Comply with service, kitchen procedures and food safety regulations
