The role of Inline Machine Operator at Novolex, based in Franklin Park, IL, is a critical position that supports the safe and efficient operation of the APET extrusion line. This manufacturing role demands careful handling of processes from material preparation through to the former and trim press stages. Candidates are expected to ensure proper material handling and uphold consistent product quality while meeting production standards.
This position offers a competitive starting hourly wage of $28 to $36 with available 12-hour shifts spanning from 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am, reflecting the company’s need for flexibility and dedication in shift scheduling. The Inline Machine Operator has a pivotal responsibility in monitoring and operating various material systems such as blenders, crystallizers, and dryers alongside extrusion equipment including extruders, melt pumps, dies, roll stacks, formers, and trim presses.
The operator must maintain process control parameters to stabilize product quality and maximize throughput efficiency. Responsibilities include performing start-ups, shutdowns, and assisting with changeovers following standard operational protocols. In addition, the role requires quick identification and resolution of routine process or quality issues. Maintaining accurate production and quality documentation is vital alongside ensuring a clean, safe, and orderly work environment according to 5S methodology standards. Effective communication with team members and leadership is necessary to coordinate activities and report operational statuses.

- minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience
- ability to lift 75 lbs occasionally
- ability to work standing or walking for 12 hours in hot environment
- good communication skills
- flexibility to work overtime and various shifts
- ability to work independently and in a team
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience required
- plastics extrusion preferred
- experience with PET material handling systems preferred
- demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- high school diploma or GED required
- ability to work independently and in a team environment
- flexibility to work overtime and off shifts as needed
- must have good communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with people at all levels within the organization
- must have the ability to lift 75 lbs occasionally as job demands
- must have ability to work standing or walking, in a hot environment, for 12 hours with appropriate breaks
