Belcan is a leading global provider of engineering, technical recruiting, and IT services, supporting a wide range of industries including aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial sectors. With decades of experience and a commitment to excellence, Belcan delivers comprehensive workforce solutions, including infrastructure and enterprise systems support, that enable businesses to operate more efficiently and securely. Known for fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, Belcan values innovation, integrity, and collaboration to drive success for its clients and employees alike.
Belcan is currently seeking a skilled Infrastructure Support Engineer to join their team in Des Moines, IA. This position is on-site and involves providing end-to-end support for enterprise infrastructure environments covering Networking, Citrix Virtualization, Client Computing, and Server Administration across multiple platforms including Windows, macOS, and Linux. The Infrastructure Support Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the high availability and reliability of key business services by managing and troubleshooting complex infrastructure systems.
The responsibilities of this role encompass a broad range of infrastructure technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building, deploying, and maintaining Windows and Linux servers as well as managing virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V. Networking duties include configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices, alongside managing IP addressing and routing protocols. The role extends to cloud and hybrid infrastructure support, involving administration of resources in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments and integration of cloud with on-premises systems.
Storage and backup operations are also vital components of this position, with responsibilities for managing SAN/NAS storage systems, overseeing backup and disaster recovery workflows, and supporting data replication and retention policies. Automation skills are important, requiring the use of scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, Python, and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Terraform to automate system builds, configurations, and monitoring.
Monitoring infrastructure performance using tools like Splunk and SolarWinds, as well as security management including access control, multi-factor authentication, and applying hardening standards to meet compliance requirements, are essential functions of the Infrastructure Support Engineer. Virtualization and containerization support, including Docker and Kubernetes platforms, are part of optimizing resource allocation and ensuring efficient infrastructure operation.
Additional duties include incident and problem management to swiftly resolve outages and implement permanent fixes, as well as infrastructure planning and lifecycle management which involves capacity planning, procurement, installation, and retirement of hardware. The role demands excellent troubleshooting skills, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to support a global enterprise environment.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 5-8 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure support. The candidate should be well-versed in networking, Citrix environments, server administration, and endpoint support. Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Citrix Certified Associate and Professional, Cisco CCNA and CCNP, Red Hat Certified System Administrator and Engineer, and ITIL Foundation Certification.
The salary range for this position is competitive, between $95,000 and $105,000 annually. Belcan offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health care, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plans, education assistance, and paid time off including holidays and other leave. Belcan values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer, ensuring all candidates receive consideration regardless of race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics.
This role is ideal for a highly motivated infrastructure professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and seeks to contribute to the operational excellence of a top-tier engineering services company. Candidates interested in making a meaningful impact on enterprise IT infrastructure are encouraged to apply.
