Job Description
The hiring establishment is a Tier 1 financial institution operating on a global scale with a focus on advanced technological integration and infrastructure. Known for its robust financial services, this organization is also at the forefront of innovative technology programs that enhance operational efficiency and security across its global offices. With headquarters located at One New York Plaza in New York, NY, the institution emphasizes modern solutions such as IoT (Internet of Things) and smart building technologies to support its infrastructure needs across multiple international locations including New York, London, and other future sites worldwide. The company is committed to maintaining a secure, efficient, and well-documented technological environment, ensuring that all devices and systems comply with rigorous security standards and best practices.
The role of Infrastructure Server Engineer is pivotal within a strategic IoT and smart buildings program designed to migrate and integrate various IoT devices securely onto a dedicated SD Access fabric network, separated from the corporate network to enhance security and operational integrity. This program encompasses a wide range of devices such as building management systems (BMS), indoor air quality sensors, occupancy sensors, smart lighting, CCTV systems, and multimedia control systems. The engineer acts as a technical liaison bridging IoT devices with internal technology teams including networking, security, proxy, and firewall teams, as well as coordinating with external vendors responsible for device onboarding, troubleshooting, configuration, and lifecycle management.
The position demands comprehensive hands-on experience in both Linux and Windows server administration, not just theoretical knowledge. Expertise in troubleshooting and configuring servers within these environments is a core expectation. The engineer will manage the entire lifecycle of IoT devices from deployment to decommissioning, ensuring devices are correctly registered with IPs, MAC addresses, DNS records, and NTP settings. They will handle complex troubleshooting tasks such as packet captures in collaboration with various security and architecture teams. Familiarity with a mixed technology environment including SaaS applications, physical vendor appliances, and virtual machines hosted in DMZs is crucial.
In addition, the Infrastructure Server Engineer will be instrumental in supporting the firm’s security posture by coordinating device security reviews and adherence to infrastructure policies. They will also maintain clear, detailed technical documentation and be capable of communicating complex infrastructure concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. The role occasionally requires out-of-hours and weekend involvement to align with global migration and deployment schedules, highlighting the critical nature of this position within the global operations infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity for professionals seeking to work within a dynamic, technology-driven financial environment, contributing directly to large-scale IoT infrastructure projects that drive operational advancement and security.
