The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) position at Peraton offers an exciting opportunity to support the Department of Navy's IT architecture through engineering, integration, and cybersecurity expertise. Located onsite in Annapolis Junction, the role centers on implementing, maintaining, and enhancing security architectures aligned with nationally recognized frameworks such as NIST RMF, DoD STIGs, and CIS benchmarks. The ISSE will play a crucial role throughout the system development lifecycle by engaging in security requirements analysis, system design validation, penetration and vulnerability testing, as well as accreditation processes.

This position requires hands-on management of vulnerability management tools like Tenable Nessus, ACAS, and Qualys, along with expertise in securing various server environments including Windows, Linux, cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, virtualization, and containerization technologies. The ISSE will collaborate cross-functionally with system administrators, network engineers, and other cybersecurity professionals to implement secure configuration baselines and conduct incident response activities utilizing tools like Splunk Enterprise. Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and Python are vital to streamline remediation workflows and facilitate compliance reporting.

Additional responsibilities include engineering endpoint security using solutions such as Trellix ePO, administrating privileged access management systems via CyberArk, and performing continuous security monitoring and threat detection. The role involves producing technical documentation, security architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and high-level risk assessments that inform leadership decisions. Candidates must bring a strong understanding of cybersecurity requirements, risk assessment frameworks, and experience in managing complex security toolsets.

Peraton offers a competitive salary range of $135,000 to $216,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
