The Industrial Maintenance Technician role at Airlite Plastics is an integral part of the Pennsylvania team based in Nazareth, PA. This position is designed for a highly skilled technician who can contribute directly to the company’s continuing growth and operational success. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment and machinery involved in production operate efficiently and reliably. This involves a hands-on approach to maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, emphasizing proactive strategies such as preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The technician will be expected to perform routine inspections on critical equipment like injection molding machines, extruders, conveyors, and auxiliary machinery, as well as oversee the upkeep of essential plant systems including fire protection, plumbing, cooling water, HVAC, and compressed air. The role calls for someone with keen attention to detail, strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and the ability to respond effectively to unexpected equipment failures. Collaboration with engineering teams to facilitate process improvements and equipment upgrades is an important aspect of this job, as is maintaining comprehensive records related to maintenance activities and parts inventories. The candidate must also ensure compliance with safety protocols, participate in safety audits and trainings, and contribute to a clean and orderly work environment. The position does not carry direct supervisory responsibilities but involves working across departments in a matrixed organizational framework. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or related field preferred
  • minimum of three years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • preferably experience in plastics
  • minimum of one year forklift and pallet truck experience
  • proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and other control systems is a plus
  • knowledge of basic industrial electricity, hydraulics, plumbing, compressed air and water cooling systems
  • experience with preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • ability to operate lathe, milling machine, welding equipment, drill press, reciprocating, circular or band saw, pedestal grinder

Job Qualifications

  • proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and other control systems is a plus
  • basic industrial electricity, hydraulics, plumbing, compressed air, water cooling systems as well as preventative/predictive maintenance programs
  • basic operation of equipment such as lathe, milling machine, welding equipment, drill press, reciprocating/circular/band saw, pedestal grinder

Job Duties

  • Perform routine inspections including preventive and predictive maintenance of machinery, including injection molding machines, extruders, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment
  • thoroughly understand and maintain all plant systems including fire protection, plumbing, cooling water, HVAC and compressed air
  • develop and follow maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
  • diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment
  • respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions
  • assist in the installation of new equipment and machinery
  • collaborate with engineering teams to implement process improvements and equipment upgrades
  • maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and machine performance
  • complete work orders and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
  • adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • participate in safety audits, training, and emergency response drills
  • ensure that the work area is kept clean and orderly
  • perform other duties as assigned
  • maintain company attendance standards
