The role of the Industrial Maintenance Technician at Butterball is a multi-faceted position that requires technical expertise and hands-on skills in electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, and fabrication. This position is essential in ensuring the optimal operation of equipment and processes within the manufacturing plant. The technician will respond to operational changes caused by equipment malfunctions, breakdowns, relocations, replacements, or modifications, providing mechanical support services to maintain uptime and efficiency. It is a dynamic position demanding a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation to the evolving technological needs of the plant. The Industrial Maintenance Technician will play a critical role in food safety initiatives by tearing down and reassembling equipment and will also provide training to peers and production associates to correctly execute preventive maintenance tasks. Job Requirements
- 2 years of previous experience working in at least one maintenance discipline
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certificate/diploma in industrial maintenance or similar area strongly preferred
- Ability to follow diagrams, operation manuals, manufacturing instructions and troubleshooting malfunctions
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently to make decisions with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certificate or diploma in industrial maintenance or similar area strongly preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in at least one maintenance discipline
- Ability to follow diagrams, operation manuals, manufacturing instructions and troubleshooting malfunctions
- Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels
- Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Good communication skills
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Welding experience using mig, tig, and stick methods preferred
- Skilled in mill/lathe work preferred
- Plumbing skills preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Job Duties
- Provide mechanical support service in response to operational changes resulting from malfunction, breakdown, relocation, replacement or other modification of existing mechanical systems and/or equipment
- Perform a wide range of complex tasks involving electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, and fabrication of repair parts
- Troubleshoot and repair various pieces of equipment using diagnostic tools such as ladder logic and volt meters
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks from lubricating wear points to changing blades
- Tear down and reassemble equipment to support food safety initiatives
- Provide training to other IMTs, Machine Operators and Production Associates on preventive maintenance tasks
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, schematics, and work orders to perform duties
- Suggest changes to improve equipment uptime and reliability while maintaining optimal operation
- Adhere to company policies including safety and food safety regulations
- Maintain accurate work documentation
- Act as backfill in production equipment operation as needed
- Perform all duties assigned by management
- Maintain regular attendance as an essential job function
