Job Description
Minerals Technologies Inc. is a global, technology-driven specialty minerals company that develops, produces, and markets a diverse portfolio of minerals and mineral-based products and services. With operations spanning across the globe, the company’s products play a crucial role in everyday life, serving millions of people worldwide in industries such as paper and packaging, food and pharmaceuticals, household and personal care, pet care, automotives, and many industrial applications including steelmaking, metalcasting, construction, infrastructure, and wastewater remediation. As a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol MTX, Minerals Technologies is headquartered in New York City and operates over 150 locations with approximately 4,000 employees in 34 countries, supported by 12 dedicated research and development centers. The company emphasizes safety, open communication, environmental responsibility, and ethical resource management as core values that guide its daily operations and long-term strategy.
American Colloid Company (ACC), a part of Minerals Technologies, is renowned for setting the global standard for premium foundry-grade bentonite and green sand molding materials essential to the metalcasting industry since 1927. ACC’s long legacy and commitment to quality and innovation makes it a leader in its field. The company is currently hiring for the position of Operator based in Neenah, WI. This full-time role offers competitive pay commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, 401k with company match, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, educational assistance, and an employee assistance program.
The Operator role at ACC is pivotal to ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-driven operations within the facility. The position primarily involves the safe unloading of raw materials from large railcars, operating various types of mobile equipment including trackmobiles, forklifts, front-end loaders, and skid steers, and managing the blending process to meet precise formulations used in the production of bentonite-based products. Operators are responsible for transferring raw materials into storage tanks, monitoring inventories and production metrics, performing equipment switching operations, and adhering to strict 5S workplace organization standards. They play an active role in maintaining operational excellence by following Leader Standard Work (LSW) protocols, conducting routine inspections, and reporting performance data.
In addition to unloader duties, Operators lead the blending activities to produce high-quality Additrol bonded products for the metal casting sector, which requires a strong attention to detail and compliance with customer specifications and manufacturing standards. The blending process includes adding specific additives according to set mixing procedures and managing product flow from work-in-process through finished product tanks. Coordination with dispatch personnel and transportation carriers is also a key aspect of the role to ensure seamless inbound and outbound shipments.
This position demands a high level of safety awareness, a commitment to teamwork, and the ability to work independently. Employees will train initially on the first shift with a subsequent transition to the third shift schedule. The work environment involves manufacturing settings with exposure to outdoor elements, railcar unloading, sand conveyor systems, and production facilities. The workweek is standard 40 hours, Monday to Friday, with voluntary overtime and very rare weekend work.
Overall, this role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking a dynamic, safety-focused career in manufacturing within a reputable global company. Employees benefit from ongoing training and development opportunities and the support of a collaborative team dedicated to operational excellence.
