This position runs from August 17, 2026, through February 13, 2027, and spans 26 weeks of immersive experience. The role is full-time, with a work schedule of 40 hours per week, making it an ideal fit for individuals seeking substantial engagement in environmental education and community outreach.

The EE Specialist will be instrumental in planning and delivering a variety of environmental education programs tailored for diverse audiences including K-12 students, school groups, and the broader public. Key responsibilities include conducting curriculum-based lessons, leading interpretive guided walks, co-teaching with partner programs such as Philly Nature Kids, and designing engaging educational materials such as flyers and social media content. Additionally, the specialist will work at the Visitor Center, facilitating daily operations and helping coordinate special events designed to connect the community with local natural resources.

Participants in this role will receive valuable hands-on training and certification in outdoor youth skill programs, including fishing, archery, and kayaking, enriching their ability to lead experiential learning activities effectively. Compensation includes a living allowance of $723.50 per week, a monthly housing allowance of $750, and a one-time relocation allowance of $1,100. Shared living accommodations are available, but participants are also free to secure their own housing arrangements.

Through this role, the specialist will contribute to habitat restoration and trail maintenance efforts alongside biology and maintenance teams, participate in offsite community projects such as community gardens, and collaborate with local volunteers. The position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority, requiring participants to be between the ages of 16 and 30 or veterans age 35 or younger and to be U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents.
