The Independent Contractor Retail Food Safety Auditor position for the Austin, AZ territory is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about food safety and quality assurance. This role involves conducting second-party food safety audits across retail environments such as restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and foodservice establishments. Auditors provide valuable education and guidance to personnel, helping ensure compliance with specific industry standards while also learning about varied food-related businesses.
This independent contractor role offers flexible, part-time hours ranging from 10 to 50 audit hours per month, with the potential for evening and weekend audits making up to 50 percent of the time. Travel up to 80 percent of the time, including overnight stays, is required, offering auditors the chance to explore new places and engage with diverse clients. The position demands a high level of integrity and quality in audit execution and communication with clients, audit delivery managers, and account managers, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism.
Successful candidates must reside within the Yuma area and possess a minimum of two years of experience in food safety or operations within restaurant or grocery industry settings. Having prior audit experience and certifications such as ServSafe or Certified Professional Food Safety (CP-FS) is preferred, with the ability to obtain certifications within three months of employment also accepted.

- Excellent verbal and written communication, analysis and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel up to 80 percent of the time including overnight
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must live within Yuma area to be considered for the position
- Prior food safety experience or knowledge

Job Duties
- Perform 2nd party audits for retail clients
- Summarize audit findings
- Communicate effectively with clients, Audit Delivery Manager, and Account Manager
- Demonstrate a high level of quality and integrity in daily responsibilities
- Overnight travel as required
- Conduct audits during evenings or weekends as needed
- Complete 10-50 audit hours per month
