As part of Marriott International's extensive portfolio of brands, The Ritz-Carlton upholds a rich culture that values diversity, inclusivity, and the unique backgrounds and talents of its associates. The company is deeply committed to providing equal employment opportunities and fostering an environment where every team member is empowered to succeed and contribute creatively and compassionately to the guest experience.
This particular opening is for a full-time, non-management position located in Honolulu, Hawaii at 383 Kalaimoku Street. The role offers an hourly wage of $17.70 with eligibility for additional service charge compensation. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to build or advance their career in food and beverage service within a prestigious hotel known for its high standards and luxurious ambiance.
The role primarily involves serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests, setting tables according to the specific type of event and established service standards, and providing knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries about menu selections. Communication is key, as this position requires interaction with kitchen staff to relay menu questions, estimated wait times, orders needing recooking, and product availability. It also involves communicating guest-specific requirements such as allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests to ensure all guests’ needs are met satisfactorily.
The Server will be responsible for recording transactions accurately using the MICROS system at the time of order and ensuring guest satisfaction by checking in regularly throughout the meal. Maintaining cleanliness in work areas, dishware, and glassware is a continuous duty throughout the day, in addition to performing closing duties like restocking and securing the service environment.
Safety and professionalism are paramount in this role. Employees must follow all company and safety policies, report any unsafe conditions or incidents, and complete all required safety training and certifications. Personal appearance and uniform standards must be upheld to reflect the brand’s luxury image, and confidential company information must be protected at all times. Exceptional guest service is also a critical component, including greeting guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing their needs, assisting those with disabilities, and expressing genuine appreciation for their patronage.
The position demands physical stamina and dexterity, requiring standing, sitting, or walking for prolonged periods, as well as the ability to move and lift objects up to 25 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance. The ability to navigate various surfaces and perform a range of physical movements such as reaching, bending, twisting, and stooping is necessary to meet the demands of the job.
Preferred qualifications include having at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with at least one year of related work experience. No supervisory experience or licenses are required. This role offers a supportive team environment where individuals can grow professionally while adhering to The Ritz-Carlton's "Gold Standards." These standards include the Employee Promise, Credo, and Service Values that guide every aspect of the work and guest interaction, ensuring consistency and excellence in luxury hospitality.
Joining The Ritz-Carlton means becoming part of a distinguished brand that sets the international standard for refined and thoughtful guest service. It provides a unique chance to be part of an inspiring culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and personal development, opening a path to a rewarding career in luxury hospitality.
