Job Description
The Ritz-Carlton, located at 900 SW Washington St, Portland, Oregon, is a distinguished luxury hotel brand known worldwide for its exceptional service and uncompromising standards of quality and comfort. As part of Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton prides itself on blending cultures, talents, and experiences to create a diverse and inclusive workplace environment. With over 100 award-winning hotels globally, The Ritz-Carlton is synonymous with luxury hospitality where associates are empowered to be creative, kind, and compassionate in their service, fostering memorable and unique experiences for every guest. The company emphasizes a welcoming and accessible workplace, offering equal employment opportunities and actively supporting diversity. Building on a foundation of "Gold Standards"—a set of guiding principles including the employee promise, credo, and service values—The Ritz-Carlton ensures that every day is better than the last in delivering exceptional luxury service.
The Food and Beverage Expert Service Specialist role at The Ritz-Carlton in Portland is a part-time, non-management position focused on creating an extraordinary guest experience beyond just serving food and drinks. The specialist’s responsibility is to actively engage in various services to ensure guests have an enjoyable and remarkable stay. This includes setting tables, communicating effectively with the kitchen, interacting and serving guests attentively, and maintaining cleanliness in work and storage areas. The role demands physical endurance and flexibility as specialists will often stand, sit, walk for extended periods, navigate uneven surfaces, lift and carry items weighing less than 50 pounds without assistance, reach high places, and perform bending and twisting motions. The position's key objective is to seamlessly integrate all service transactions into a positive guest experience and to uphold the hotel's safety, quality, appearance, and communication standards.
The position requires candidates to have a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, though less than one year of related work experience is sufficient for entry. There is no requirement for supervisory experience or additional certifications. Open availability is preferred to accommodate the scheduling needs of the hotel.
Beyond the routine operations, this role at The Ritz-Carlton provides significant opportunities for personal and professional growth. Joining this team means becoming part of a worldwide network of hospitality professionals who take pride in their work and their contribution to the brand’s outstanding reputation. It offers a platform for individuals to develop their skills in a supportive and prestigious environment, ensuring they can reach their full potential. The commitment to excellence extends not just to guests but also to employees, who are encouraged and trained to deliver the brand’s gold standard of service with kindness and attentiveness every day. Ultimately, this job is ideal for individuals driven to excel in luxury hospitality and who value creating memorable guest experiences through dedicated service and teamwork.
