Known for its elegant properties and exceptional guest experiences, Starwood Hotels embodies a mission-driven culture with a focus on sustainability, community building, and environmental stewardship. The company highly values its team members and leadership who are thoughtful and inspiring, emphasizing collaboration, stellar service, and deep respect for nature. This ethos is reflected in every aspect of the guest experience from arrival to departure, making Starwood a leading name in the hospitality industry worldwide.
The role of an In-Room Dining Server at Starwood Hotels is pivotal in enhancing guest satisfaction through outstanding service. This position involves a variety of responsibilities geared toward ensuring guests receive timely, attentive, and courteous in-room dining services. The In-Room Dining Server acts as part of a cohesive service team that manages the complete dining experience from setup and presentation to service and breakdown. This role requires a sharp sense of timing and meticulous attention to details that contribute significantly to the comfort and delight of hotel guests.
In this role, you will anticipate and understand guest needs, ensuring all requests and concerns are addressed promptly and efficiently. You will greet guests warmly, use professional language, and maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times. The position demands a strong team-oriented approach, requiring collaboration with colleagues and leaders during pre-shift meetings and throughout each shift. Setting up dining areas with proper table arrangements, handling food and beverage delivery, and engaging proactively with guests to confirm satisfaction are essential parts of the daily duties.
An In-Room Dining Server at Starwood Hotels also performs tasks such as bussing tables, managing supply transportation, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering strictly to safety and hygiene standards, including food handling certifications. Knowledge and compliance with liquor regulations when serving alcoholic beverages are crucial. The role also demands proficiency with point of sale systems, clear communication regarding menu offerings, special dietary needs, order accuracy, and guest payment processing.
Successful candidates must be highly organized multitaskers who excel in guest service, are adaptable to fast-paced environments, and can work varied shifts including holidays and weekends to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation. Physical stamina is important as the role involves lifting, standing for extended periods, and mobility throughout the property. Starwood Hotels encourages innovation and values employees who challenge processes and contribute to creating value and excellent guest experiences.
This role not only requires professional food and beverage service skills but also an ability to embody the company’s vision and cultural pillars, delivering good-natured service with integrity and respect.
