Job Description
Starwood Hotels is a premier luxury hotel brand management company known for its dedication to sustainability, inclusivity, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Founded in 2006 by visionary entrepreneur Barry Sternlicht, the company is an affiliate of the prestigious Starwood Capital Group, a leading global private investment firm. Starwood Hotels operates with a deep commitment to diversity and fostering an empowered, inclusive culture. Their mission-driven approach is reflected in every aspect of their hospitality, placing people, collaboration, stellar service, and respect for nature at the core of their operations. The company aims not just to provide excellent accommodation but also to make a positive impact on the world, little by little, by nurturing a work environment that cultivates growth, respect for the planet, and sincere care for both guests and staff.
Life at Starwood Hotels, particularly under their eco-conscious 1 Hotels brand, transcends the typical hospitality job. This is not merely about clocking in and out; it is about contributing meaningfully to a mission that seeks to change the hospitality landscape through sustainable practices and responsible hospitality. The culture is caring and thoughtful, emphasizing good-natured and informed service that leaves guests feeling fulfilled and respected. Their team members and leaders are expected to embody the company’s values by bringing their authentic selves to work and actively participating in creating a lasting impact on the environment and community.
The In-Room Dining Server role at Starwood Hotels is pivotal within the guest service team, primarily responsible for exhibiting excellence at every stage of the in-room dining experience. The role involves ensuring all guest needs related to in-room dining services are proactively anticipated, promptly addressed, and impeccably executed. This includes handling tasks such as prepping, setting up, serving, bussing, retrieving tables, breakdown, and managing side duties linked to guest amenities. Serving at Starwood Hotels requires the ability to provide dependable, courteous, and efficient service while maintaining professionalism and team collaboration. It involves a deep understanding of the menu, guest preferences, and safety protocols, as well as the agility to operate in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
Aside from the direct guest interaction that defines the role, the In-Room Dining Server also plays a crucial part in upholding the high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and food safety that Starwood Hotels are known for. The team member is expected to work seamlessly with colleagues, participate actively in pre-shift meetings, and contribute to optimizing operational processes through innovation and thoughtful problem-solving. The job requires physical stamina and flexibility to meet the demands of a 24-hour hospitality operation, including the ability to lift and carry substantial weight and to maintain a professional appearance consistent with the Starwood brand.
As a mission-driven employer, Starwood Hotels places strong emphasis on cultivating a culture of continuous learning, inclusivity, and empowerment, offering team members opportunities to grow professionally while making a positive difference in the world. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, sustainability, and delivering memorable guest experiences in an environment that values ethical practices and community engagement. Starwood Hotels is an equal opportunity employer committed to nondiscrimination, ensuring that all team members are supported with necessary accommodations if required. The company's holistic approach to hospitality and its mission to foster a sustainable and inclusive workforce make a career here not just a job, but a purposeful journey.
