Job Description
The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale, located at 1 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Florida, is a distinguished luxury hotel brand under Marriott International, known worldwide for its exceptional hospitality and service excellence. With over 100 award-winning hotels globally, The Ritz-Carlton focuses on creating memorable guest experiences through a deep commitment to quality, attentiveness, and a welcoming atmosphere. This establishment offers a vibrant work environment, promoting diversity, equal opportunity, and inclusion, making it a top choice for hospitality professionals seeking to advance their careers in a globally recognized luxury hotel. As part of Marriott International’s portfolio, The Ritz-Carlton emphasizes professional growth, teamwork, and upholding high service standards known as the "Gold Standards," which include the Employee Promise, the Credo, and Service Values.
The role of a Room Service Order Taker at The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale is a full-time, non-management position that plays a crucial role in delivering the renowned luxury experience to guests. The primary responsibility involves efficiently taking telephone orders for room service, answering guests' questions regarding menu selections, and coordinating with kitchen staff to ensure accuracy and promptness. This position requires a thorough understanding of the menu, including detailed knowledge about various wines—their origin, harvest, and styles—allowing the order taker to respond confidently to guest inquiries and elevate the dining experience.
Additionally, the role involves managing return calls for room service orders, informing guests and management about any service delays, and communicating special requests such as extra food orders, allergies, or dietary requirements to the kitchen. Maintaining cleanliness in the work area, accurately registering transactions using the MICROS system at the time of order, completing closing reports, and processing all payment methods with confidentiality and professionalism are essential tasks. The Room Service Order Taker must also adhere strictly to company safety policies, report any workplace accidents or unsafe conditions, and participate in safety training and certification.
Moreover, the position demands a polished appearance and personal hygiene reflecting the luxury standards of The Ritz-Carlton. The employee must treat all guests with genuine appreciation, provide assistance to individuals with disabilities, and communicate professionally both verbally and telephonically using appropriate protocols. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with team members to achieve common goals, ensuring compliance with quality expectations, and performing other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors are integral to the daily duties of this role.
This position is ideal for individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent and no prior related or supervisory experience is required, making it accessible for entry-level hospitality professionals. The Ritz-Carlton provides an empowering culture that celebrates diversity and fosters creativity, kindness, and compassion. Joining this team means engaging in a service culture that prioritizes guest comfort and luxury, offering an opportunity to deliver exceptional experiences and grow professionally within a respected global brand. By upholding the Gold Standards every day, employees contribute to The Ritz-Carlton’s reputation as a leader in luxury hospitality and become part of a team that prides itself on excellence and integrity.
