Job Description
The Statehouse and Conference Center is a premier venue dedicated to hosting a wide range of events, from legislative sessions to public conferences, ensuring that each gathering is executed flawlessly with top-notch audiovisual and logistical support. This establishment plays a crucial role in supporting government and community functions by providing state-of-the-art conference facilities and event management services. Known for its attention to detail and commitment to excellence, the Statehouse and Conference Center strives to create an environment that is both professional and welcoming to all visitors and event participants.
The role of Event Set Up Crew at SRP A. Jones is integral to the seamless execution of events hosted at the Statehouse and Conference Center. Paying close attention to detail, this position involves the setup and troubleshooting of specialized audiovisual equipment, including sound mixers, monitors, DVD players, mult boxes, and podium equipment. The Event Set Up Crew member ensures that all technical aspects of an event run smoothly and that spaces are prepared efficiently for various types of gatherings. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of creative problem-solving, quick reaction to technical issues, and effective handling of logistical tasks related to room setup and maintenance.
As a key player in event preparation, the Event Set Up Crew member reviews event worksheets, organizes timelines, and plans room setups to meet the specific needs of each event. This includes assessing conference rooms and event locations to determine necessary equipment, ensuring that all spaces are functional and presentable by managing lighting, doors, blinds, and cleanliness. Additionally, this role involves transporting unnecessary equipment and furniture to storage, cleaning event spaces, and managing trash and debris resulting from catering.
The Event Set Up Crew holds a leadership role in the absence of supervision, assisting Project Search interns and facilitating training for new team members. A successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain high standards under varying and sometimes unpredictable event schedules. The role demands physical stamina due to the frequent lifting, walking, and moving of equipment, emphasizing the importance of manual dexterity and adherence to safety protocols.
This is a part-time, event-based role paying $20.00 per hour, with the necessity to work weekends on occasion, acting as the sole point of contact during weekend events. The position blends technical expertise with hands-on operational responsibilities, making it ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy contributing to the success of public and governmental events.
