Import Agents are responsible for facilitating air and ocean shipment arrangements, identifying the most efficient routing methods, managing bookings, and coordinating deliveries to meet and exceed customer expectations. This role entails close collaboration with overseas offices, domestic agents, carriers, and network partners to address and resolve logistical challenges that may arise in the supply chain. The candidate must effectively utilize customer service expertise to proactively update clients regarding shipment statuses and handle inquiries independently, providing timely solutions and maintaining excellent customer relations.
Working extensively with internal systems such as CRM, HRIS, Cargowise, and Salesforce is a critical aspect of this role. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the freight industry
- Proficient use of computer systems and applications such as MS Office, Cargowise, and Salesforce
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Solution-focused mindset with good judgment in resolving issues
Job Duties
- Helps facilitate air/ocean shipment arrangements, determining efficient routing methods, bookings, and deliveries to meet the customer’s expectations
- Coordinates with overseas offices and domestic agents as necessary
- Utilizes their customer service knowledge and experience to proactively update the customer and address questions regarding the status of their shipments
- Navigates CRM and HRIS to locate facility addresses, contact details and organization charts in order to route the customer or vendor to the proper CSR or department
- Tracks and traces shipments from door to door (as applicable) and maintains timely milestone updates in Cargowise
- Answers customer inquiries independently
- helps resolve problems and creates solutions
- Maintains status updates and supporting notes in Cargowise and Salesforce
- Works with dispatch on a daily basis and maintain communication with various transportation and warehouse agents
