The Imaging Services Assistant position at Houston Methodist plays a vital role in supporting the imaging technical staff by carrying out various activities designed to enhance safety, exam quality, and overall service provision within the department. This role is essential in maintaining operational efficiency by handling a broad range of supportive tasks that do not require licensure. Key responsibilities include moving patients safely throughout the department and hospital, obtaining and managing supplies, preparing and disinfecting examination rooms and equipment, and other duties necessary to support the imaging team. The assistant must demonstrate adaptability and a strong customer service orientation to address the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and developmental needs of patients.
This non-exempt position requires effective communication skills and the ability to build positive interpersonal relationships with patients, families, physicians, and fellow staff members. The Imaging Services Assistant contributes to fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on achieving excellent departmental results. Duties such as patient transportation, facilitating patient movement to changing rooms and restrooms, supporting department workflow, and participating in quality and safety initiatives are core to the role. The assistant will also engage in learning opportunities, proactively seek assignments, and contribute to improving patient satisfaction and departmental metrics. Competence in infection control, safety practices, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information is essential.
Candidates for this role typically hold a high school diploma or equivalent education, with preferred enrollment in an accredited imaging school. Prior experience in imaging student roles or customer service within healthcare or related sectors is advantageous. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Enrollment in accredited imaging school preferred
- Previous experience in imaging or customer service preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
