The Special Events Coordinator role is an essential part of Marriott Hotels' efforts to host memorable and flawlessly executed special events and leisure experiences. This position involves supporting the day-to-day operations and coordination of various themed events such as ICE!, Best of Florida Christmas, SummerFest, and more. The coordinator will work closely with management to ensure all aspects of event operation—from lighting and audiovisual equipment to cleanliness and system functionality—are running smoothly and up to the highest standards. The role also involves addressing and correcting any aesthetic or operational deficiencies to maintain an exceptional environment for both guests and staff.
This position requires a meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to learn and manage multiple software systems used in ticketing, retail, inventory control, and space usage. The coordinator will also play a key part in training and monitoring event staff, aligning with the guidelines and directives provided by the Special Events Manager and Assistant Managers. Ensuring seamless communication, managing discrepancies, and supporting the team are vital components of this role.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least 1 year of related work experience
- Ability to learn and operate software systems for events
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow company policies and procedures
- Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds
- No supervisory experience required

Job Duties
- Assist in coordinating operation of special events or leisure experience activities
- Check status of operation, lighting, AV, cleanliness, system operation and correct aesthetic deficiencies
- Follow through with training guidelines to support Special Events Manager and Assistant Managers
- Monitor and assist with training for all special events employees
- Learn and operate software systems used in events such as ticketing, retail, inventory, space usage
- Resolve financial, inventory, and numeric discrepancies
- Follow company policies and procedures, report accidents and unsafe conditions
- Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality
- Welcome and address guests according to company standards
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships to support team goals
- Identify and recommend new ideas to increase efficiency and cost-savings
- Perform physical duties including standing, sitting, walking for extended periods and handling objects up to 25 pounds
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested
