Job Description

Gaylord Hotels, a distinguished portfolio of Marriott International, represents a unique blend of creativity, dedication, and exceptional service in the hospitality industry. Established as a leader in meetings and experiences, Gaylord Hotels provides an extraordinary setting where people come together to create memorable moments. The brand thrives on its STAR associates, who embody creativity, entrepreneurship, and heartfelt service, setting Gaylord apart from traditional hotels. Located in Kissimmee, Florida, the venue offers a vibrant environment with a focus on delivering superior experiences through a diverse range of events and activities.

This job opportunity is for a Seasonal Event Coordinator position focusing on managing and supporting special events and experiences such as ICE!, Best of Florida Christmas, and SummerFest among others. This full-time, non-management role offers a competitive hourly wage of $20.50 and is based onsite at the 6000 W Osceola Parkway location. The position plays a vital part in aiding the coordination of event operations including lighting, audiovisual components, cleanliness, and system functionalities to ensure every event meets the high standards expected by guests and management alike. The role requires a diligent approach to maintaining operational excellence by identifying and rectifying any aesthetic or functional deficiencies during events.

Responsibilities include following training guidelines to support the direction of the event management team, supervising and assisting with training of all special event staff, and mastering the use of various event software systems such as ticket issuance, retail sales, inventory management, and space utilization. The role demands precision in resolving financial discrepancies, inventory issues, and numeric inconsistencies to maintain seamless event execution.

The Seasonal Event Coordinator is also tasked with upholding company policies—reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions promptly, ensuring professionalism in personal appearance, safeguarding company information, and protecting company assets. A key component of the role involves providing genuine, courteous service by welcoming and attending to guests’ needs with a sincere appreciation. Communication skills are essential, involving clear and professional interaction with guests and colleagues via phone and in person. The role emphasizes teamwork, positive work relationships, and support in achieving collective goals. There is a focus on maintaining quality standards and identifying opportunities for improvement in efficiency, productivity, safety, and cost reduction.

Physically, the position requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods during shifts, and handling objects up to 25 pounds independently. The employer encourages innovation and employee contribution towards organizational success. This opportunity is tailored for those who meet the educational requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent, coupled with at least one year of related work experience. While supervisory experience is not mandatory, the role involves closely working alongside the event management team and potentially leading special event staff.

Gaylord Hotels fosters an inclusive work environment valuing diversity in backgrounds, talents, and experiences. Marriott International’s commitment to equal opportunity employment ensures a welcoming workplace free from discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics. Joining Gaylord Hotels means becoming part of a global network of professionals dedicated to excellence, service, and personal growth, offering a launching pad for your career success and the chance to become your best version in a supportive, vibrant setting.
