We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager (GM) to lead the overall operations of Hyatt House BWI. The General Manager will play a critical role in ensuring outstanding guest experiences, operational excellence, and financial success of the property. This position requires a highly strategic leader who can develop and execute short and long-term plans aligned with both brand standards and company goals. The GM will be responsible for managing budgets, driving revenue, maintaining compliance with policies and regulatory requirements, and fostering a positive work culture that encourages growth and teamwork.
The ideal General Manager will bring a proven track record of success in hotel management, with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the hospitality industry. This role is pivotal in overseeing all departments within the hotel, working closely with department heads to optimize performance and meet revenue and guest satisfaction targets. The GM will also be actively engaged in sales and marketing efforts, supporting client acquisition and revenue management initiatives.
In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the General Manager at Hyatt House BWI will ensure that financial objectives are met by closely monitoring business reports and making informed decisions. The successful candidate will also oversee the hotel’s compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as fire and other legal requirements. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in upscale or boutique hotels
- Experience in restaurant and banquet management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle guest complaints effectively
- Physical ability to perform job duties including standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds
- Knowledge of hotel PMS and POS systems preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making capabilities
Job Qualifications
- University degree in hotel management or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of department head level experience in branded upscale/boutique full service hotel
- Hotel opening or repositioning experience preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of A La Carte restaurant and/or banquet management experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of hotel PMS and POS systems is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational, project management, and detail orientation skills
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service
- Strong leadership and judgment abilities
- Ability to maintain professional appearance and manner at all times
- Must be able to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Oversee the overall operations of the hotel
- Ensure full compliance with hotel operating controls, SOP's, policies, procedures and brand standards
- Handle complaints and oversee the service recovery procedures
- Prepare, present and achieve the hotel's annual operating budget, marketing & sales plan and capital budget
- Manage ongoing profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded
- Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long-term strategic goals for the property
- Monitor hotel business reports daily and take decisions accordingly
- Ensure monthly financial outlooks for rooms, food & beverage, admin & general are on target and accurate
- Maximize room yield and hotel revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs
- Act as a final decision maker in hiring key team members
- Oversee and manage all departments, working closely with department heads daily
- Manage and develop team to ensure career progression and development
- Be accountable for department heads' responsibilities and take ownership of all guest complaints
- Provide effective leadership to hotel team members
- Embrace company culture and create this culture within the hotel
- Actively engage in the sales process and participate in new client acquisition
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements
