The role of Bartender/Barback is essential to the seamless operation of bars and restaurants managed by Peregrine Hospitality. This position involves preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with established service standards, ensuring that each guest receives prompt and attentive service. The Bartender/Barback anticipates guests' needs, utilizes suggestive selling techniques to enhance guest experiences, and maintains cleanliness and organization within their assigned stations. This role requires familiarity with opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and handling payments through point-of-sale systems.

Candidates selected for this position must be TIPS and Food Safety certified, and preferably possess at least one year of experience as a bartender or barback in a hotel or restaurant setting. The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods. Flexibility in working shifts is also expected to accommodate business needs. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalence required
  • minimum 1 year experience as a barback or bartender in a hotel or restaurant
  • must be at least 21 years of age
  • able to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs
  • ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently
  • ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • ability to hear, understand, and communicate orally and in writing
  • ability to bend, twist, push, pull, stoop, and kneel
  • ability to ascend and descend a ladder

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants in accordance with service standards
  • anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, making recommendations from guests' preferences
  • take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques
  • complete opening duties as assigned, including check quality and quantity of all bar stock and supplies using checklist
  • requisition all necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to bar
  • set bar according to service standards
  • set up all condiments (garnishes, juices, etc.) and beverages according to standards
  • prepare all fresh fruit garnishes according to service standards
  • ensure a sufficient supply of all flatware, glassware, and chinaware for service
  • ensure cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas
  • set upside stations with supplies and equipment
  • record orders of guests into the point-of-sale system and receive payment following service procedures
  • adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies
  • open wine/champagne bottles and serve in accordance with service standards
  • retrieve food orders from kitchen
  • monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas
  • guide the activities of the bar back to ensure optimum service to guests
  • remove soiled wares from bar
  • clean and wipe down bar immediately after guest departs
  • collect and report tips at the end of the assigned shift
  • complete closing duties and reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor or manager on duty
  • must be TIPS and Food Safety certified as required
  • follow 4 keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards
  • follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operations
  • follow safety and security procedures
  • work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team
  • adhere to attendance and reliability standards
  • follow all additional duties as assigned by management
