The cook will play an essential role in ensuring all meals meet Hy-Vee's high standards for taste, quality, and presentation while maintaining a friendly and courteous demeanor toward customers and coworkers alike.
In this role, the Hy-Chi Department Cook is expected to not only prepare food items but also engage actively with customers, providing a helpful and personalized service that enhances the overall shopping experience. Preparing hot woks, soups, meats, vegetables, and ready sauces requires familiarity with specialized cooking techniques and the use of various kitchen equipment, including woks, knives, and cutting boards. The cook is also responsible for inventory management tasks such as ordering products and supplies, monitoring food quantities, and restocking as necessary.
The workplace is a fast-paced, high-pressure environment involving physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and performing repetitive motions. Additionally, the Hy-Chi Department Cook must adhere strictly to company and department policies, including hygiene and dress code standards, to ensure food safety and maintain a professional appearance.
