Job Description
ABM (NYSE: ABM) is one of the world’s largest providers of facility services and solutions, committed to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments. Established in 1909, ABM offers a wide array of services designed to enhance and maintain commercial, industrial, and institutional spaces. Their comprehensive portfolio includes janitorial services, engineering, parking management, electrical and lighting solutions, energy and electric vehicle infrastructure, HVAC and mechanical systems, landscape and turf care, and mission-critical solutions. Serving over 20,000 clients and supported by more than 100,000 employees operating in over 350 offices across the United States, the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and other countries, ABM is a leader in delivering superior facility service solutions to diverse industries such as commercial office buildings, universities, airports, hospitals, data centers, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and entertainment venues.
ABM’s workplace culture values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity, proudly welcoming veterans and providing necessary accommodations for individuals with disabilities. The company is also a military-friendly employer, integrating veterans’ unique skills and experiences into its workforce. ABM participates in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program to ensure employment eligibility. With a commitment to ongoing employee development, ABM provides world-class training programs that empower team members to grow their careers within the company.
The HVAC Technician II position based in Raleigh, NC is a key role within ABM’s engineering service team, specializing in commercial HVAC service and installation operations. This role predominantly involves troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing various types of HVAC and refrigeration equipment including but not limited to rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, boilers, mini splits, and associated controls. An ideal candidate is expected to have significant hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems across a broad range of tonnage from 20 to over 100 tons.
This position requires travel to multiple client sites throughout Raleigh and the surrounding Research Triangle area, rather than being assigned to a single fixed location. The technician will receive daily dispatches, work independently, and operate a company-provided vehicle in the performance of their duties. The role also includes participation in monthly safety meetings and occasional project briefings, ensuring compliance with safety protocols while maintaining high-quality service standards.
Candidates for this role must have a minimum of five years of HVAC experience, with at least three years focused on commercial or industrial environments. A high school diploma or GED and EPA 608 certification are required qualifications. Strong communication skills and professionalism are essential, along with the capability to work autonomously after onboarding. While an associate degree or additional certifications in HVAC are preferred, ABM values candidates with a blended background that includes both residential and commercial HVAC experience—with a priority given to commercial expertise.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for experienced HVAC technicians looking to leverage their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment with a reputable industry leader. ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package to its frontline team members, underscoring the company’s dedication to employee well-being and career development. The company’s reputation as a military-friendly employer further emphasizes its commitment to inclusivity and valuing diverse experiences within its workforce.
