The role of Human Resources Manager at The Barfield demands a professional who thrives in a hospitality-driven environment, where interpersonal skills and attention to employee well-being are paramount. As Human Resources Manager, you will guide and manage the comprehensive provision of human resources services, policies, and programs for this boutique hotel. This position is critical in fostering a positive work culture by managing employee relations with the utmost confidentiality, neutrality, and sensitivity. You will be responsible for enhancing the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and HR policies, programs, and practices, including training and development. A key part of your role will involve maintaining payroll operations, coaching department heads, and ensuring accuracy in payroll processing.

Additionally, you will keep the work structure up-to-date by revising job requirements and job descriptions, manage recruitment processes, and conduct orientation and training programs to prepare employees effectively for their roles. Compensation management is also a vital responsibility, requiring you to conduct pay surveys, evaluate jobs, prepare budgets, and implement pay structure revisions. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring legal compliance with relevant human resource laws and representing the hotel at hearings when necessary. You will engage with both corporate HR teams and hotel staff to facilitate benefit programs and open enrollment processes.

This position requires advanced knowledge of labor relations and employee relations, supervisory experience, and a proactive approach to resolving employee grievances. The Human Resources Manager will play a pivotal role in coaching managers to handle employee performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and fostering effective communication within the hotel staff. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years progressively responsible human resource experience
  • 3+ years labor relations and employee relations experience
  • 3+ years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of human resource policies and legal compliance
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity
  • Capability to coach and discipline employees effectively
  • Willingness to attend offsite events as required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or similar work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles
  • 3+ years of experience in labor relations and employee relations
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices, including training and development
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures, coaching and training department heads, ensuring an accurate payroll submission and maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions
  • Posts job requisitions and manages the job requisition processes
  • Supports organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program
  • Counseling managers on candidate selection

  • Manages a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys

  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees

  • Working with corporate to ensure an effective and efficient open enrollment process for all employees
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements
