Job Description

The Barfield, Autograph Collection, is a distinguished boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Amarillo, Texas. Owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Coury Hospitality, this hotel is part of the prestigious Autograph Collection under Marriott International. However, the franchisee operates as a separate entity with exclusive control over all employment policies and practices, including hiring, compensation, benefits, and workplace culture. The hotel prides itself on delivering an authentic Texas Panhandle hospitality experience with a modern luxury twist that blends refined Western charm with contemporary comforts. Featuring 112 stylish guest rooms, a sophisticated Italian steakhouse called Toscana, and the unique Paramount Recreation Club—a speakeasy-inspired social venue—the Barfield offers guests a distinctive blend of history, innovation, and exceptional service.

The Human Resources Manager role at The Barfield is vital in maintaining the hotel’s dynamic and service-oriented team. This position requires a strategic leader with comprehensive expertise in human resources practices tailored to the hospitality industry. Reporting directly within the hotel’s management structure, the HR Manager will oversee the full spectrum of human resources functions including employee relations, recruitment, training, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and labor relations. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor for hotel managers and employees alike, fostering an environment that balances employee satisfaction with business objectives.

This position demands strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees across all levels. As the primary custodian of confidentiality and sensitivity regarding employee matters, the HR Manager must handle workplace concerns with neutrality and professionalism. In addition to managing daily HR operations, they will play a key role in enhancing organizational culture by planning and implementing employee development programs, conducting thorough job evaluations, and continuously updating HR policies to align with legal requirements and hotel standards.

The role offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 annually and includes comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401K plan. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a proven track record in human resources leadership within hospitality or similar service-oriented industries, specifically those who bring a blend of experience in labor relations, employee relations, and supervisory responsibilities. Professional certifications such as PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SCP are highly desirable.

In joining The Barfield team, candidates will become part of a vibrant workplace culture that values individuality, collaboration, and professional growth. The hotel’s alignment with the Autograph Collection means employees are part of a global portfolio of unique, boutique luxury hotels that serve the sophisticated traveler known as The Individualist. This role not only offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to a distinguished hotel but also to thrive in a supportive environment where employees are encouraged to be their best selves, find their purpose, and belong to an inspiring community within the hospitality industry.
