The role of Human Resources Director at the JW Marriott Anaheim is a key position responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the Human Resources function within the hotel. This full-time role offers an annual salary range of $70,000 to $80,000. The HR Director is entrusted with overseeing recruitment, training, wage and benefit administration, and compliance with statutory requirements. The position ensures that every hotel department receives the personnel, guidance, and support needed to achieve guest service excellence and meet business objectives.
In this role, the HR Director plays a strategic part in fostering a positive employment environment by developing and administering policies and programs that enhance associate relations and professional growth. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum three years of human resources experience preferably in hospitality or related industry
- Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage recruitment training wage and benefit administration
- Ability to handle conflict with tact and diplomacy
- Proficient in HR software and systems
- Ability to work full-time with regular attendance
- Physical ability to perform essential job functions during an eight-hour shift
Job Qualifications
- Three plus years of human resources experience preferably in hospitality or similar industry
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or human resources certification is helpful
- Ability to deal effectively with all applicants and associates requiring patience tact and diplomacy to resolve conflicts and collect accurate information
- Thorough knowledge of human resources practices and procedures and state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to human resources
- Ability to perform moderately complex calculations for salary and benefit administration and to forecast departmental expenses
- Ability to stand walk and or sit continuously for a minimum eight hour shift with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to observe associates in the workplace analyze operations and detect concerns such as associate performance grooming training policy adherence and morale
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication style to different audiences
Job Duties
- Assist in the development implementation and administration of all human resource functions including recruitment training and development benefit administration and associate relations activities relating to all hotel personnel
- Direct and instruct the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques using methods such as verbal presentations and written directions to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient associates
- Conduct interviews for all management positions and make hiring recommendations
- Ensure that associates are developed and utilized to their maximum potential by controlling the implementation administration and monitoring of all training programs
- Monitor the associate performance appraisal programs and analyze evaluations and goals to ensure appraisal comments are appropriate and goals are measurable and achievable
- Direct and administer associate relations programs and activities such as recognition and service award ceremonies social functions and general hotel meetings to maintain a positive associate relations climate
- Develop implement and administer policies and programs related to the management of all hotel personnel to ensure a positive and productive employment environment
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations related to human resources including affirmative action plan oversight
- Provide assistance guidance and counseling to general manager and management staff to maximize quality and professionalism by resolving concerns and objectives
- Control the administration of wages and benefits to ensure accurate and equitable application by analyzing reports and computer systems
- Manage labor relations by administering union contracts responding to grievances negotiating settlements and representing the hotel at arbitrations
- Oversee pre-selection activities including drug testing and reference checks to ensure compliance with company policies and employment eligibility verifications
- Communicate verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff
- Comply with attendance rules and be regularly available to work
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned
