Job Description
Goodwill Industries of East Texas is a nonprofit organization committed to providing skills training and vocational opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment. Operating across the East Texas region, Goodwill Industries enhances the quality of life within local communities through their dedication to economic independence. They emphasize core values such as second chances, service, stewardship, inclusion, opportunity, loyalty, and friendliness. These principles guide their efforts in helping people secure meaningful employment and attain greater self-sufficiency. The organization serves as a vital resource across East Texas, empowering individuals to overcome obstacles and contribute positively to the workforce and society at large.
The role of Human Resources Coordinator at Goodwill Industries of East Texas is integral to the smooth operation of recruiting and onboarding activities. This position involves coordinating key operational steps such as job postings, candidate communication, interview scheduling, and preparation of interview packets. The coordinator also maintains applicant tracking documentation to ensure all hiring checkpoints are met in a timely manner. Onboarding preparation for selected candidates includes collecting required forms and managing new-hire communications. Critical to this role is the accuracy and completeness of hiring packets before screening or onboarding actions advance.
Beyond recruitment coordination, the Human Resources Coordinator supports orientation logistics, tracks statuses of screenings and hiring actions, and provides routine updates to hiring managers and HR leadership to keep all stakeholders informed. The position also supports recruitment events and job fairs, enhancing Goodwill's outreach and talent acquisition efforts.
Additionally, this role serves as secondary coverage for the Administrative Receptionist, providing front desk support during lunch breaks and absences, and assisting with various office support functions. While the position requires attention to administrative detail, it also demands a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to escalate sensitive or compliance-related decisions to HR leadership. The coordinator must maintain a sharp awareness of policy compliance, especially regarding background checks, rehire eligibility, and candidates with potential compliance concerns.
The ideal candidate for this Human Resources Coordinator position possesses excellent communication and organizational skills, proficiency with office software including Microsoft Office products and PDF tools, and experience with HR information systems, particularly UKG/Kronos or similar platforms. They must be capable of managing multiple priorities, maintaining document accuracy and confidentiality, and adhering to structured hiring procedures. While the role has no supervisory responsibilities, it is essential for the individual to exercise sound judgment about when to escalate issues to senior HR personnel.
Goodwill Industries of East Texas offers a welcoming and collaborative office environment with moderate noise levels and regular interaction with applicants, employees, and hiring managers. The physical demands of this role are primarily office-based, involving typical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, reaching, speaking, hearing, and occasional lifting of light items. The organization is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations when necessary to support individuals with disabilities in successfully performing their job functions.
Goodwill Industries of East Texas is an equal opportunity employer. All employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. This commitment ensures a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees and applicants are treated with fairness and respect.
