At EchoStar, the Human Resources Operations Supervisor - Leave of Absence is a pivotal role dedicated to enhancing the employee experience through the management of leave programs and accommodations. This role demands in-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise in administering various leave policies, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and workers' compensation.
This supervisory position is central to ensuring compassionate and compliant support for employees during significant life events, contributing to a workplace culture grounded in care and support. The Leaves team provides critical guidance and assistance with leaves of absence, accommodations, return to work procedures, and employee benefits, acting as a vital resource for both staff and management. The supervisor will also manage and develop a team of 7-9 Case Managers, ensuring high-quality service delivery and fostering professional growth within the team.
A key responsibility is the harmonization of HR processes in collaboration with cross-functional partners such as legal, managers, workers' compensation units, and third-party vendors to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and reduce organizational risk. This role also requires use of data and process improvements to optimize efficiency and enhance the overall employee journey. The position is ideal for a proactive leader who is adept at balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience
- 3+ years providing HR support for large organizations of approximately 5000+ employees
- 2+ years of experience managing people
- Proficiency with Google Suite including Google Sheets and Google Docs
- Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders
- Experience coaching and advising employees at multiple levels
- Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including drug test and DMV check

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience
- 3+ years providing HR support for large organizations of approximately 5000+ employees
- 2+ years of experience managing people
- Experience across multiple HR disciplines including Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Investigations, Leave of Absence, HR Operations, Compliance, and Generalist work preferred
- Experience supporting multiple employee types and lines of business such as operations, entry-level, professional, and technology roles
- Experience working in entrepreneurial culture as well as larger established companies
- Proven business acumen with ability to solve problems and make recommendations to leadership
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees, managers, and teams to become a trusted partner and influencer
- Experience coaching and advising employees at various levels from front-line hourly to executives
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in fast-paced environments with minimal oversight
- Ability to identify trends in data and observations and collaborate with stakeholders to make informed recommendations
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and handling sensitive information with care
- Proficiency in Google Suite including Google Sheets and Google Docs
Job Duties
- Lead in-house administration of leave programs including FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation with hands-on expertise ensuring compassionate support during employee life events
- Partner cross-functionally to harmonize HR processes maintaining compliance with relevant laws
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 7-9 Case Managers to deliver outstanding service to employees
- Guide interactions around benefits, accommodations, and retirement with empathy and professionalism
- Mentor Leaves Case Managers in facilitating interactive discussions and implementing return to work strategies
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, quality reviews, and performance evaluations to support employee growth
- Act as an expert resource guiding Case Managers through complex leave of absence and accommodation cases
- Lead team meetings and harmonize processes for alignment and clarity
- Use data and process mapping to identify efficiency opportunities and enhance the employee journey
- Proactively identify areas of concern and high risk with individual cases involving legal as appropriate
