Job Description

The Church Headquarters in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, is a vital hub for members and visitors alike. Known for its rich history and spiritual significance, the Church Headquarters serves as the administrative center and a place of worship that supports the global mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The campus, including the adjacent Temple Square, is a meticulously maintained area that welcomes thousands of guests, members, and employees daily. The organization takes pride in maintaining an environment that exemplifies safety, cleanliness, and reverence in every aspect of its operations.

The Parking Services Assistant position is an essential role within the Church Headquarters, focusing on providing parking services to visitors who utilize the parking facilities on campus. This is a part-time, entry-support position with a wage of $19.00 per hour, designed for individuals who are detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and eager to help others. Working under the guidance of the Spirit and with a commitment to charity, integrity, and knowledge, the Parking Services Assistant is more than just a role focused on managing parking spaces — it is an opportunity to contribute to the broader mission of the Church by supporting a welcoming, safe, and efficient environment.

As a Parking Services Assistant, you will be the first friendly face visitors see, helping to create a smooth and welcoming experience. The duties include managing and operating parking equipment, validating parking passes, collecting parking revenue through credit card processing devices, and assisting with computer input and data entry tasks. The role also involves supporting key departments such as Church Security, Event Services, and the Salt Lake Temple, which means you play a critical part in the overall functioning and safety of the Church campus.

Shifts are primarily on Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a rotating Sunday shift and occasional requirements to work during events, holidays, devotionals, concerts, and conferences. This flexibility offers a great balance for those seeking part-time employment while still being actively involved in a team that values service and community. The position requires physical fitness, as it involves walking, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

The role demands excellent customer service and interpersonal skills since you will interact with the public daily. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to provide clear instructions and assistance to visitors, resolve difficult situations with kindness, and ensure compliance with parking rules and regulations. A valid driver’s license is necessary for operating company carts and vehicles, and strong computer skills are required to operate the various parking and data entry systems efficiently.

The Church recognizes the significance of each employee's contribution to furthering the Lord’s work. Employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and skills to support the organization’s mission, whether it’s through IT, facilities management, or parking services like this role. The Church is committed to an environment of equality and inclusion, offering reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and adhering strictly to non-discrimination policies.

Joining the parking services team means being part of a trusted group that ensures the Temple Square and Church Headquarters continue to be inviting, orderly, and safe places for worshippers and visitors from all around the world. This role is an excellent entry point for those who want to work in a respectful and spiritually enriching environment, providing valuable support to a cause larger than themselves, one parking space at a time.
