The Northrop Grumman Classified Solutions team is currently seeking an HPC/Linux Systems Administrator to support information system lifecycle activities. This full-time, on-site role is based in Palmdale, CA, and requires a Secret security clearance, with no telecommuting options available due to the classified nature of the work. The HPC/Linux Systems Administrator will perform administration for medium to large-sized classified programs, ensuring smooth operation and security of Linux multi-user systems. Responsibilities include coordinating with network and system engineers, managing multiple networks, implementing system upgrades and patches, and maintaining backup and recovery systems. The role involves hands-on Linux workstation and server management as well as administration of system security and configuration. Effective communication skills are essential to interact across various organizational levels and external partners.

High School diploma or equivalent and relevant years of related experience
Current US Government Secret security clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Programs access
Security+ CE certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Linux operating systems support experience
Linux workstation and server management experience

Job Qualifications

Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience
High School diploma or equivalent and 9 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree
Current US Government Secret security clearance
Ability to obtain access to Special Programs as a condition of employment, maintaining Special Programs access will be a condition of employment
Current Security+ CE (or greater) certification OR ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date
Linux operating systems support experience
Linux workstation and server management experience
Active Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or Polygraph (preferred)
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware in a networked environment (preferred)
Experience with architecture and design of HPC systems, strong knowledge of HPC technologies, storage, parallel processing, scientific computing frameworks, and hands-on HPC hardware diagnostic and repair (preferred)

Job Duties

Perform as Linux systems administrator for a medium to large sized classified program
Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and oral format
Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management
Support multiple networks
ensure necessary administration tasks are completed
Work closely with System Engineering and other team members to develop recommended system improvements, upgrades, and solutions
Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability of systems, including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
Administer backup and recovery services
manage file systems and disk space
manage virus protection on a routine basis
Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists
Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact
Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and system components
Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with team members, suppliers, customers, and vendors
Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases
Maintain security audit and logging information on all networked and standalone computers in a classified environment as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)
Prepare security documentation for input to Computer Security
Report on project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts
Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions
Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
Work after hours and weekends as needed
