Job Description
5 STAR Event Services is a distinguished provider of event security and staffing, specializing in the sports and entertainment industries. Established in 2000, the company has built a solid reputation for delivering superior service at over 42,000 events across major cities in Texas including Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. With a workforce comprising security officers and event staff, 5 STAR serves prestigious clients such as Major League Soccer (MLS), National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), NCAA Football programs, NASCAR, Formula 1, MotoGP, American Hockey League (AHL), G League Basketball, and various stadiums, arenas, theaters, symphonies, festivals, and conventions. As a privately held Women's Business Enterprise with a DPS License # B09954, 5 STAR Event Services upholds equal employment opportunities and is committed to fostering an inclusive and professional working environment.
The current hiring opportunity is for energetic, reliable, and safety-conscious individuals to join the Guest Services Team. This permanent part-time position offers an engaging role in upcoming sports and music events, including the flagship Freedom Over Texas festival at Eleanor Tinsley Park, one of Houston's largest annual celebrations. Scheduled from June 27th through July 6th, 2026, this event provides team members a unique chance to work in a lively outdoor environment managing large crowds and supporting festival operations.
As an Event Staff or Security Officer, the role focuses on ensuring the safety, comfort, and positive experience of all clients, guests, and colleagues throughout the event. Responsibilities involve enforcing the integrity of both public and private spaces, monitoring entry and exit points, conducting routine security inspections such as bag searches and ticket verification to prevent prohibited items, and providing clear guidance and assistance to attendees for seating and services. The position demands a proactive approach to managing access routes, handling patron complaints in line with company policies, enforcing event guidelines, and identifying suspicious behaviors to maintain a secure environment.
The role requires employees to be calm and level-headed, particularly in high-pressure scenarios, as there is the potential need to assist with orderly evacuation procedures in case of emergencies and provide security escorts as required by the event. The working environment is fast-paced and energetic, often accompanied by elevated noise levels typical of athletic and musical events, with provisions like earplugs to support employee comfort. The job demands physical stamina — walking and standing for extended periods, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as many events occur during these times.
This position offers a starting pay rate of $13.00 per hour and up, reflecting competitive compensation for dedicated professionals. The company’s culture promotes a team structure summarized by the motto "Together Everyone Achieves More," underlining the importance of connection, collaboration, and support within the staff. Employees enjoy flexible schedules, year-round event opportunities beyond temporary work, skill development in customer service and security, and the unique experience of engaging with their community and city teams. 5 STAR Event Services is not just a job provider but a gateway to exciting and meaningful career opportunities in event staffing and security.
