Job Description

5 STAR Event Services is a leading provider of event security and staffing solutions, specializing in the sports and entertainment industries. Since its inception in 2000, the company has built a strong reputation by delivering exceptional service at over 42,000 events across Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, Texas. As a woman-owned business and a privately held enterprise, 5 STAR has carved out a distinctive niche by offering reliable, professional, and flexible event staffing that ensures both safety and enjoyment for all participants. They actively support a wide range of events including Major League Soccer (MLS) and National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) games, NCAA football matches, NASCAR and Formula 1 races, MotoGP events, AHL hockey, G League basketball, as well as concerts, theatrical performances, symphonies, festivals, and conventions.

At 5 STAR Event Services, the focus is on creating a secure and welcoming environment for all guests, with a dedicated team that emphasizes safety, professionalism, and excellent customer service. Employees enjoy the opportunity to work in energetic, fast-paced environments that vary from indoor arenas to outdoor venues regardless of weather conditions, which provides a dynamic and fulfilling work experience. The company values teamwork through its motto "Together Everyone Achieves More," fostering a sense of connection among the guest services staff and security officers.

The opportunity to join the guest services team as an Event Staff or Security Officer at 5 STAR Event Services offers permanent part-time, hourly employment with a starting pay range of $13.00 and up per hour. This role is especially appealing to those who thrive in vibrant community and public event settings and who are looking for flexible schedules that can accommodate evening and weekend work. The position involves a variety of responsibilities centered around maintaining the safety, security, and comfort of guests, clients, and fellow employees at sporting and music events.

As a member of the 5 STAR team, employees are expected to uphold and enforce the integrity of public and private event areas by monitoring entry and exit points, conducting routine inspections such as bag checks and credential verifications, and providing directions and assistance to event patrons. Maintaining clear access routes for attendees and vehicles, managing complaints in adherence to company policies, and supporting orderly evacuation procedures during emergencies are also essential functions. Additionally, employees provide security escorts when required, contributing to the overall safety and smooth operation of large-scale events.

The role demands individuals who possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, are at least 18 years of age, and have reliable communication and transportation means. A Level 2 Security License is a mandatory requirement; however, the company offers Level II training and examination at no cost to applicants, who must pass an exam, submit to fingerprinting, and undergo a criminal background check to qualify. Strong customer service skills, effective communication abilities, a professional appearance, and the aptitude to stay calm in high-pressure scenarios are key attributes sought in candidates.

Physical demands of the job include the ability to walk, stand for extended periods, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds, while operating in potentially noisy and crowded environments such as loud athletic and musical events. 5 STAR ensures employee comfort by providing necessary accommodations like earplugs, tents, rain ponchos, and water, especially for outdoor venues that operate rain or shine. The varied work environment and events calendar present a unique opportunity for people who are enthusiastic about engaging with their community and city, enhancing their skill set in security and customer service, and having fun along the way.

Joining 5 STAR Event Services means becoming a part of an organization that values its employees, offers competitive pay, and provides consistent event work year-round rather than seasonal temp jobs. The company’s commitment to Equal Opportunity Employment and status as a DPS licensed security provider reinforces its professionalism and dedication to quality in the industry. Prospective applicants are encouraged to visit the company’s official website to view current event calendars and learn more about the exciting career opportunities available with 5 STAR Event Services.
