The role involves maintaining cleanliness and a healthy environment throughout the hospital and related buildings by performing standard cleaning procedures. The position is scheduled for evening shifts, specifically from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, working Sunday through Saturday with an 8-hour shift duration. This opportunity includes a hiring pay range of $15.00 to $22.29 per hour, where the final offer takes into account a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations. Ideal candidates will be able to perform a wide range of cleaning duties including sanitizing patient rooms, surgical areas, lounges, nursing stations, emergency rooms, and other hospital spaces. They will be expected to dust high surfaces, mop floors, vacuum carpets, and polish fixtures to the highest standards. The job also requires moving furniture and setting up meeting rooms, as well as performing specialized cleaning tasks such as "check out" cleaning for discharged or transferred patients. Additionally, the role includes routine trash collection and transport duties, ensuring all waste is properly managed and removed from the premises.\n\nIdeal applicants must have the physical capability to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and must be able to understand and follow simple English instructions. The minimum age requirement is 18 years. While prior experience in housekeeping is preferred, those with 3 to 6 months of related experience will be viewed favorably. Candidates who have an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips them with proficiency in the listed responsibilities may also be considered. UMass Memorial Health emphasizes inclusivity and equal opportunity in all hiring considerations and actively seeks candidates from diverse backgrounds and with a range of perspectives to enrich their workforce.\n\nThe position stresses respect as a foundational workplace value, guided by the organization's six Standards of Respect: Acknowledge, Listen, Communicate, Be Responsive, Be a Team Player, and Be Kind. In addition to fostering these values within the workplace, UMass Memorial Health provides employees with resources and accommodations as needed to ensure equitable access to employment opportunities, including support for individuals with disabilities.
