Job Description
Sandpiper Hospitality (SH) is a prominent and rapidly expanding company within the extended stay market, known for its commitment to quality, guest satisfaction, and efficient property management. The company prides itself on providing an excellent extended stay experience for guests by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, functionality, and comfort in each of its properties. Sandpiper Hospitality operates with a core value to "Bring the Energy," promoting a culture of proactive service, teamwork, and attention to detail. The organization is recognized for fostering a supportive and dynamic work environment where employees can grow and contribute actively to the company’s success.
As a Houseperson (H), you will join the Sandpiper Hospitality team as an essential, multi-skilled technician responsible for maintaining the property’s overall upkeep. This role is hands-on and combines light maintenance with core housekeeping responsibilities to ensure that every part of the facility, inside and out, meets the Company Brand Standards. Your work will directly impact the guest experience by ensuring that rooms are well-prepared after move-outs and that the property remains safe, clean, and visually appealing. The Houseperson is a vital part of the housekeeping team, contributing to preventive maintenance programs that address minor repairs early and help avoid larger issues.
Your role as Houseperson encompasses a variety of tasks from handling light plumbing issues such as plunging toilets and unclogging sinks, performing electrical maintenance like replacing wall switches or light bulbs, conducting preventive maintenance on studios including painting and pest identification, to general upkeep activities such as shampooing carpets and caring for the parking lot. Additionally, your responsibilities include detailed room preparation, which involves inspecting guest rooms for pest or maintenance concerns, cleaning and staging rooms with furniture and supplies, and managing trash and linen stain treatment effectively. This blend of responsibilities ensures operational efficiency and enhances guest satisfaction.
The role requires flexibility and readiness to support other housekeeping duties including assistance in laundry operations, sorting and cleaning linens, and general maintenance of laundry facilities. You will also cross-train to perform the duties of Move-Out and Stay-Over Attendants as needed, thereby contributing more broadly to the housekeeping operation. The position requires you to be available for on-call emergency responses, and you must be prepared to clock in and out for any emergency work done beyond the normal schedule.
To succeed as a Houseperson at Sandpiper Hospitality, you will need a high school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED), 1-2 years of experience in light maintenance and housekeeping is preferred, and a good understanding of basic maintenance skills in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and painting work. Ability to operate light equipment like pressure washers, carpet cleaners, and power tools safely and effectively is essential. Communication skills in English, problem-solving abilities, and a service-oriented mindset are critical traits that will help you thrive in this role.
If you are mechanically inclined, physically capable, and enjoy a varied, active job that combines cleaning with repair and property upkeep, this opportunity at Sandpiper Hospitality offers you the chance to make a significant impact while developing valuable skills in a growing company. Sandpiper Hospitality is committed to equal employment opportunities and fosters a non-discriminatory and harassment-free workplace where every employee is valued and respected. Join Sandpiper Hospitality as a Houseperson and become a key contributor to maintaining a welcoming and well-functioning environment for all guests and team members.
