Job Description

Sandpiper Hospitality (SH) is a dynamic company within the extended stay hospitality industry known for its rapid growth and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. As a leader in the extended stay market, Sandpiper Hospitality maintains a strong reputation for quality, comfort, and excellent service. The company emphasizes operational excellence, which is reflected in its dedicated teams who work tirelessly to uphold property standards and guest satisfaction. Staff members are encouraged to embody the company value of "Bring the Energy," fostering a vibrant and positive work environment. Joining Sandpiper Hospitality means becoming part of a forward-thinking, supportive organization that values teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement in the hospitality space.

The Houseperson (H) role at Sandpiper Hospitality is a vital position that blends light maintenance, housekeeping duties, and general facility upkeep to ensure that the property consistently meets the company’s brand standards. This hands-on, versatile role requires someone who is both technically skilled and customer-focused, as it spans responsibilities from minor repairs to guest room preparation. The Houseperson helps maintain the aesthetic and functional integrity of both the interior and exterior of the property, contributing directly to a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests.

In this role, you will perform light plumbing tasks such as plunging and unclogging; light electrical work including changing outlets, switches, and light bulbs; and preventive maintenance that encompasses painting, caulking, and identifying pest issues. Also, you will be vital in general upkeep like shampooing carpet, janitorial duties, and parking lot maintenance. Room preparation tasks are critical after guest move-outs, involving thorough inspections, addressing maintenance and pest concerns, staging furniture and supplies, and managing waste and linens with a focus on cleanliness and hygiene.

Beyond core maintenance and housekeeping, the Houseperson supports the housekeeping team by assisting with laundry duties such as sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens, as well as maintaining laundry facilities. Cross-training on other housekeeping roles like Move-Out and Stay-Over Attendants ensures operational flexibility and responsiveness. The position also requires availability for on-call emergencies, during which the Houseperson must respond promptly and treat all on-call time as working hours.

This role demands mechanical aptitude, physical stamina, the ability to work independently, and strong communication skills in English. Practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and painting maintenance along with the ability to operate light equipment such as pressure washers and carpet cleaners is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability to changing work demands, and a service-oriented mindset that prioritizes friendliness and helpfulness to guests and coworkers are equally important.

At Sandpiper Hospitality, the Houseperson is a cornerstone of property upkeep and guest satisfaction, making a meaningful impact every day. This role offers a diverse and active work environment where your skills in maintenance and housekeeping are highly valued, and your contribution to a clean, safe, and enjoyable guest experience is recognized. It is an opportunity to grow professionally in a supportive company committed to equal opportunity and maintaining a drug-free workplace environment. If you thrive on varied tasks and take pride in keeping a property at its best, the Houseperson role at Sandpiper Hospitality is a perfect fit.
