The Houseperson role at Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown is a full-time position, offering an engaging and dynamic work environment with shift patterns that include both morning (8 am to 4:30 pm) and evening (2:30 pm to 11 pm) shifts, with weekends and holidays required. This role is essential to maintaining the hotel’s high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. As a Houseperson, you become a vital part of the team dedicated to delivering the warmth and light of hospitality to every guest.
In this position, your primary responsibility is to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of public spaces within the hotel. This includes restrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, offices, and event areas, where you will perform daily cleaning tasks such as dusting, polishing furniture, vacuuming, mopping floors, washing windows, and emptying trash. Beyond cleanliness, the Houseperson plays an important role in guest interaction by greeting guests warmly, delivering requested items, and occasionally assisting with room cleaning when needed. Strong communication and a service-oriented attitude are vital for creating positive guest experiences.
Additionally, the Houseperson manages housekeeping supplies by stocking and organizing supply rooms, which helps maintain efficient daily operations. The role also involves handling special projects that require periodic deep cleaning, such as flipping mattresses, moving furniture, and waxing floors. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum six months of hotel cleaning experience
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects
- Good physical stamina
- Willingness to follow safety and hygiene guidelines

Job Duties
- Maintain cleanliness of designated areas including restrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, offices, and event spaces by performing daily cleaning tasks such as dusting and polishing furniture, vacuuming and mopping floors, washing windows, and emptying trash
- Greet guests warmly, deliver requested items, and assist with room cleaning as needed
- Stock and organize supply rooms to support efficient housekeeping operations
- Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks such as flipping mattresses, moving furniture, and waxing floors
