Job Description

Our hotel is a well-established hospitality business committed to providing exceptional guest experiences through top-tier housekeeping services and a welcoming environment. Our Houseperson role is a key position within our housekeeping team, providing essential support to our Room Attendants and contributing to the overall guest satisfaction by maintaining cleanliness, order, and efficiency throughout the hotel property. The Houseperson is primarily responsible for assisting housekeeping staff by delivering clean linen, collecting dirty linen, and ensuring all housekeeping supplies are stocked and organized. Daily duties include managing housekeeping carts, restocking linen closets, and performing deep cleaning tasks such as high dusting and mattress turning. A vital part of the role involves waste management including the collection and disposal of garbage and recyclables to maintain a tidy environment in hallways, public areas, and storage closets. Proficiency with commercial floor care equipment is required to shampoo carpets and maintain floor surfaces through waxing and polishing, ensuring the hotel’s aesthetic remains polished and inviting.

In addition to these physical duties, the Houseperson must be observant and proactive by reporting missing room items and necessary maintenance repairs promptly to the Housekeeping Manager or Engineering department. Handling lost and found items according to hotel protocols is also part of the responsibility. The role requires working collaboratively with Room Attendants by assisting with room cleaning tasks such as making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, and providing nightly turn-down service when required.

Our ideal Houseperson acts as an ambassador for the hotel’s customer service standards by maintaining a friendly, energetic, and professional demeanor at all times. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential. While a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this role accessible to candidates enthusiastic about hospitality with or without formal education. Prior housekeeping or hospitality experience is preferred but not required, as we provide comprehensive training for candidates eager to begin or continue their career in hotel housekeeping. Strong communication skills in the primary workplace language, attention to detail, and time management are crucial for success in this role. Job Duties

  • Stock, maintain and transport housekeeping supply cart on a daily basis
  • Restock housekeeping linen closets for next day's use and replenish chemical bottles
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks such as high dusting and turning mattresses
  • Dispose of trash and recyclables
  • Keep all hallways, public areas and closets clean, neat and vacuumed
  • Demonstrate operating knowledge and performance of commercial floor care equipment to shampoo carpets, wax and polish floors
  • Report missing items from rooms to Housekeeping Manager
  • Report maintenance repairs immediately
  • Handle items for Lost and Found according to standards
  • Respond to special guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Assist Room Attendants with cleaning guest rooms including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, and turn-down service
