Job Description
CharterCARE Health of Rhode Island, Inc., a leading healthcare organization known for its commitment to providing exceptional patient care and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in medical environments, is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping team member. CharterCARE Health of Rhode Island operates as a comprehensive healthcare provider that prioritizes patient comfort, cleanliness, and safety across all its patient care areas. The organization is recognized for its patient-centered approach and dedication to creating a welcoming and hygienic atmosphere that supports the overall healing process. The role of a Housekeeper at CharterCARE is pivotal in ensuring that the healthcare environment remains safe, clean, and comfortable for all patients, visitors, and staff. This position is a full-time regular role, typically requiring 64 to 80 hours per pay period, with scheduled working hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The position involves various responsibilities, including delivering patient food trays to care areas, transporting patients and supplies as needed, maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and equipment, and assisting in other patient comfort duties to facilitate smooth patient care operations. Daily and post-discharge cleaning and disinfecting of patient care areas are critical tasks to prevent infection and promote a sterile environment. The candidate will also be responsible for transporting supplies from Central Services, interacting with visitors and hospital staff courteously, and contributing to the overall workflow within the facility. This role requires a candidate who is attentive, responsible, and equipped with excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare personnel. The position is suitable for individuals who enjoy working with the public and are committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety in a healthcare setting. A high school diploma and current Family and Friends CPR certification are preferred but not mandatory. Previous experience of 1-3 months in a hospital setting is advantageous, particularly experience related to housekeeping, custodial duties, janitorial services, hotel services, food handling, patient and supply transportation, and usage of disinfectants and detergents. The role demands the ability to follow instructions proficiently, including the capability to communicate in English at a fifth-grade level.
