The role available is a Night Housekeeper position within the FAC - EVS Wakefield Admin department. This is a full-time, hourly position with a pay rate starting at $25.13 per hour. The work shift is from 11 PM to 7:30 AM, covering 7.5 hours a day including alternate weekends. This role is crucial to maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the medical center premises, which includes medical and office areas, patient rooms, hallways, nursing stations, stairways, and other ancillary spaces.
As a Night Housekeeper at Montefiore Medical Center, you will be responsible for executing cleaning and maintenance tasks using specified techniques and chemicals to meet the Medical Center’s strict cleanliness standards. These duties involve cleaning patient rooms, preparing rooms for discharge by removing linen and non-clinical items, dusting and polishing furniture and equipment, and disinfecting bathrooms and fixtures. You will also be tasked with managing trash disposal according to regulatory guidelines, maintaining the housekeeping supply closet, and properly recording specialty cleaning activities in areas such as operating rooms, catheterization labs, pharmacies, and endoscopy suites.
In addition to routine cleaning tasks, you may be called upon to assist in emergency situations such as floods or snow removal, ensuring timely support under critical circumstances. The position demands reliability and attention to detail, especially during the first two years, where weekend work is mandatory. This role contributes significantly to patient safety and comfort by upholding infection control and hospital sanitation protocols.

Job Duties
- Clean hospital premises utilizing specified cleansing techniques and chemicals while adhering to specified time frame
- Clean patient rooms including beds, tables, etc., utilizing specified cleansing techniques and chemicals
- Perform discharge preparation of rooms by removing linen and non-clinical items such as IV poles and commodes
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment including tables, desks, chairs, filing cabinets
- clean Venetian blinds, window sills, cabinets and closets
- dust and clean walls, baseboards, and doors
- Arrange and rearrange furniture before and after cleaning
- wash bathtubs, sinks, tiles, toilets including fixtures
- replenish disposable items such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels
- sweep, mop, burnish rooms and corridors
- vacuum appropriate areas
- empty and clean trash receptacles and wastepaper baskets
- gather and dispose of refuse including red bag waste according to regulatory guidelines
- keep housekeeping supply closet in good order and request cleaning supplies as needed
- perform appropriate documentation related to specialty cleaning in areas such as OR, Cath Lab, Pharmacy, Endo
- perform related duties as required including assisting with floods, snow, and other emergencies
- work every weekend for the first two years
