The role available is that of a Housekeeping Supervisor, a vital position within the Staten Island Navy Lodge that ensures the cleanliness and operational efficiency of the property. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of Housekeeping Laundry Attendants and Housekeeping Leads, overseeing daily housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure NHG standards are consistently met. This role requires balancing operational leadership with hands-on housekeeping duties, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, and outdoor areas. The supervisor uses the Property Management System (PMS) to coordinate schedules and prepare daily reports, ensuring that housekeeping operations align with the lodge's commitments.

In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the role includes conducting daily inspections of rooms, carts, laundry facilities, and common areas, with thorough documentation to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. Job Duties

  • Supervises housekeeping personnel performing such functions as cleaning guest rooms and public spaces outdoor space and general cleaning of the property
  • Assures the most efficient and economical methods of cleaning and maintaining guest rooms are implemented
  • Ensures required cleaning materials and linen are available
  • Utilizes the Property Management System PMS for the preparation of the daily housekeeping report and to schedule housekeepers to ensure all program commitments are met
  • Coordinates with front desk and maintenance personnel to ensure rooms are clean and ready for occupancy
  • Conducts daily inspections of rooms housekeeping carts common areas laundry facilities and maintains written documentation of these inspections
  • Conducts training on proper work methods and safety procedures
  • Fully implements all safety fire prevention SDS and environmental industrial hygiene requirements
  • Responsible for the security of all items in the storeroom and or assigned storage areas
  • Determines and places orders for cleaning supplies in-room amenities and other materials or equipment needed by the housekeeping staff and ensures items are available when required
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained stored and accounted for
  • Issues amenities supplies and linen to the housekeepers and performs a monthly quarterly inventory as required
  • Inspects rooms daily to ensure NHG standards are met and preventive maintenance repairs are completed
  • Originates work orders for needed repairs to guest rooms or public areas and reviews them with the Maintenance Department Housekeeping Manager or NHG General Manager GM
  • Checks vacant rooms to verify condition and possible unauthorized occupancy
  • Also notifies front desk NHG GM of any discrepancies
  • Evaluates performance recommends awards and or corrective disciplinary actions
  • Ensures all leave requests are in writing and approves disapproves in a timely manner
  • Interview and recommend applicants for selection or promotion
  • Handles guest and or staff suggestions and complaints resolves problems in a tactful and diplomatic manner and refers difficult and or unusual situations to management
  • Must perform duties of housekeeping attendants laundry attendants and or their respective leaders on an as needed basis to cover for staff shortages or other unanticipated occurrences
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
