The Hampton Inn Fort Wayne, located at 5702 Challenger Parkway in Fort Wayne, IN, is currently seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor. This position is hourly, offering a dynamic role within a reputable hotel under the Highgate umbrella. The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a vital role in managing and coordinating housekeeping operations within the hotel, ensuring cleanliness, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and organization throughout their section of the hotel. This includes daily inspections of room attendants' work performance, managing assignments, and ensuring that all work meets quality expectations. In the absence of higher management, the supervisor assumes full responsibility for inspecting VIP rooms and reporting their availability to the front office, emphasizing the critical nature of this leadership position.

This role requires a hands-on approach as the supervisor oversees end-of-day operations, including restocking carts, maintaining key control, and handling lost and found items per hotel protocols. Monitoring the cleanliness and orderliness of not just rooms but also support areas such as linen closets and stairways is essential for maintaining the overall guest experience.

Communication is key for this position, with responsibilities including maintaining contact with the front office and engineering teams via pager or radio, reporting on out-of-order rooms, and initiating work orders for maintenance issues. The supervisor also contributes to training housekeeping staff and may be called upon to assist with room cleaning during busy periods. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two to three years progressive experience in hotel or related field preferred
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Friendly, courteous, and service oriented manner

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College course work in related field helpful
  • At least two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner

Job Duties

  • Inspect room attendant's work performance within assigned section on a daily basis to ensure the standards and productivity levels are being met and maintained
  • In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all VIP rooms and report their availability to the Front Office according to hotel standards
  • Oversee the closing of the floors at the end of the day, ensuring the Room Attendants' carts are clean and restocked
  • Ensure records of daily assignments are completed, signed off and turned into the Housekeeping Office on time
  • Maintain key control
  • Handle items for Lost and Found according to the standards
  • Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of Room Attendants' carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways and landings
  • Oversee the daily assignment of duties, ensuring Room Attendants and House Attendants carry a work assignment
  • Carry an active pager/radio to maintain contact with the Front Office and/or Engineering throughout the shift
  • Report on progress of all out-of-order rooms under the Housekeeping Department's supervision to the Guest Services Manager according to standards
  • Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance and forward to Engineering, following through on each work order until completed
  • Assist with training of Housekeeping staff
  • May be required to clean rooms as business needs dictate
  • Ensure completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
