The Housekeeping Supervisor works directly with the Housekeeping Manager to ensure that the housekeeping and laundry operations of the hotel meet and exceed the expected quality standards. This role is pivotal in delivering spotless, well-maintained guest rooms and public areas, adhering strictly to the Sonesta brand's time, product, and placement standards. The position involves supervising and inspecting the work of room attendants, conducting training, and performing cleaning duties as necessary throughout the hotel to maintain a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a vital role in maintaining guest comfort by managing the housekeeping team effectively, monitoring room readiness for occupancy, and promoting the hotel’s G.U.E.S.T. service standards. This involves collaborating with HR for employee performance management, including recruiting, development, scheduling, and ensuring the availability of necessary tools and supplies. The supervisor also assists with monitoring inventory levels, managing laundry equipment functionality, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This is a physically demanding role, requiring regular standing, bending, lifting, and the ability to handle commercial cleaning chemicals safely.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years housekeeping experience including supervisory training or experience
- Preferred experience in the extended stay industry
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
- Must have reading and writing abilities to document tasks, order supplies, and read safety equipment manuals
- Basic mathematical skills including budgeting and profit/loss understanding
- Strong problem-solving, organizational and motivational skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office preferred
- Physical ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel and move about the facility regularly
- Ability to safely use commercial cleaning chemicals
- Capability to carry, lift or pull items up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus two years housekeeping experience including some supervisory training or experience
- Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
- Other languages beneficial
- Reading and writing abilities to document tasks completed, order supplies, receive instructions, and read equipment manuals including safety information
- Mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
- Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Office preferred
- Physical capability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility
- Ability to use commercial cleaning chemicals safely
- Capable of carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds
Job Duties
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients
- Manage according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates
- Partner with the Housekeeping Manager to recruit, develop, manage and monitor performance while making recommendations for disciplinary and other human resources-related actions
- Inspect all assigned suites and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest suites, equipment, linens, and public areas are clean and in good repair
- Advise employees of deficiencies and instruct on corrective action
- Provide retraining as needed
- Assist with training of employees and ensuring that they have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties
- Assist with scheduling and room cleaning assignments to ensure proper coverage
- May perform all housekeeping duties including cleaning guest suites and hotel public space to ensure guest satisfaction and owner expectations
- Partner with the Housekeeping Manager to inventory and maintain par levels for linen and room supplies
- Monitor commercial laundry supplies and equipment to ensure they are sufficient and in working order
- Manage procedures of lost and found items
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services
- Perform other duties as assigned
