The Housekeeping Supervisor role at Sonesta is a pivotal position designed to uphold and exceed the brand’s stringent quality standards and service objectives. Working closely with the Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping and laundry operations throughout the hotel. This role ensures that guest rooms, suites, and public areas maintain exceptional cleanliness and are prepared for occupancy promptly while meeting the company’s brand standards for product and placement. The position demands an individual who can both inspect and train housekeeping staff, promoting a culture of excellence and responsiveness to guest needs.
In addition to supervisory tasks, this role involves hands-on cleaning duties across all hotel areas to meet owner and guest satisfaction expectations. The Housekeeping Supervisor acts as a leader who inspires teamwork and quality service through clear daily communication and efficient coordination between shifts and departments. They also have a critical role in resource management—partnering to maintain inventory levels of linens and room supplies, ensuring that commercial laundry equipment is operational, and managing lost and found procedures. Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- two years housekeeping experience including supervisory training or experience
- ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
- ability to document tasks, order supplies, and read equipment manuals
- basic math skills
- problem-solving and organizational abilities
- physical capability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move around facility
- ability to use commercial cleaning chemicals
- ability to carry, lift, or pull up to 50 pounds
- willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- two years housekeeping experience including some supervisory training or experience
- preferred background in extended stay industry
- ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
- strong reading and writing abilities
- mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
- problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
- experience with Microsoft Office preferred
Job Duties
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients
- manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates
- partner with the Housekeeping Manager to recruit, develop, manage and monitor performance and recommend disciplinary actions
- inspect all assigned suites and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest suites, equipment, linens, and public areas meet cleanliness and repair standards
- assist with training employees and ensure they have necessary tools and equipment
- assist with scheduling and room cleaning assignments
- perform housekeeping duties including cleaning guest suites and public spaces
- partner to inventory and maintain linen and room supply par levels
- monitor commercial laundry supplies and equipment
- manage lost and found procedures
- promote teamwork and quality service through communication with other shifts and management
- ensure compliance with health and safety laws
- perform other duties as assigned
