The role available at Covenant Living is a supervisory position within the Residential Living level of care, focusing primarily on the housekeeping and laundry functions which are essential to daily operations. This position plays a vital role in overseeing the cleanliness, orderliness, and maintenance of resident apartments and communal areas to reflect the highest standards of hygiene and comfort. Working closely with the Director of Facilities Management, the Housekeeping Supervisor coordinates workflow, ensures compliance with safety and health regulations, and maintains a collaborative spirit across several departments such as Activities, Administration, Chaplaincy, Dining, and Sales. The supervisor is also involved in training and mentoring housekeeping personnel to deliver exceptional service, ensuring resident satisfaction and operational efficiency.
In addition to managing daily tasks like cleaning, laundry services, linen delivery, and bed making, this leadership role requires conducting audits and inspections to uphold quality standards. The Housekeeping Supervisor contributes valuable insights for maintenance decisions, including repair and pest control recommendations, and manages inventory and cost controls within budgetary limits. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 2 years of experience in housekeeping or related field
- ability to supervise and train staff
- knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- strong organizational and time management skills
- physical ability to stand, sit for prolonged periods and perform lifting up to 50 lbs
- ability to perform repetitive movements
- ability to operate department equipment
- adherence to safety standards
- good visual acuity including near, far and peripheral vision
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals and equipment
- strong leadership skills
- exceptional customer service skills
- knowledge of safety, health and quality standards in facilities
Job Duties
- Supervise the workflow of housekeeping services identified by the Director of Facilities Management
- Cooperate with other departments such as Activities, Administration, Chaplaincy, Dining and Sales
- Assign resident client apartments to be cleaned
- Clean and coordinate the cleaning of vacant apartments for new move-ins and showings
- Coordinate the workflow of laundry services including linen delivery and bed making
- Serve as a mentor and coach for housekeeping personnel and assist in their orientation and training
- Provide performance input to the Director of Facilities Management
- Inspect and evaluate the condition of resident apartments and public areas and make recommendations for maintenance
- Perform periodic audits of housekeeping and laundry services to ensure quality standards
- Ensure compliance with standards established by governing authorities
- Maintain supply inventory levels and order within budget guidelines
- Monitor costs from suppliers
- Maintain records of personal laundry service and charges
- Submit charges to accounting monthly
- Maintain safety standards within the department
- Correct unsafe conditions and report others to the Director of Facilities Management
