As part of Marriott International's esteemed portfolio, The Westin Pittsburgh offers a dynamic workplace where diversity is valued, equal opportunity is provided, and employees are engaged in meaningful work that contributes to high guest satisfaction.
The position available is a full-time, non-management Housekeeping Inspector role at The Westin Pittsburgh. This role is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and quality of guest rooms, public areas, and facilities such as the pool after cleaning by room attendants. The inspector prepares room availability reports, verifies room statuses, prioritizes room cleaning, and updates the status of departing guests’ rooms. Additionally, the role supports daily housekeeping operations and acts as a liaison between Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and Laundry departments, coordinating efforts to maintain smooth and efficient hotel operations. Accuracy in documentation and resolving room discrepancies with the front desk is a key task. The role also involves preparing and communicating staffing assignments and shift changes, ensuring seamless transition between shifts.
Housekeeping Inspectors at The Westin are also involved in assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, discipline, motivation, and employee development. The position requires compliance with all company safety policies, immediate reporting of maintenance or safety issues, and adherence to personal appearance standards. Employees in this role must maintain confidentiality, protect company property, support coworkers respectfully, and contribute to team goals, ensuring quality assurance standards are met consistently.
Physically, the job demands mobility in various settings and conditions such as climbing stairs, reaching, bending, and handling objects of varying weights, sometimes up to or over 55 pounds with assistance. Inspectors must operate computers and point-of-sale systems for information entry and retrieval, demonstrate clear communication skills, and deliver professional customer service. The role requires open availability with flexible shifts, ensuring coverage during various hours as operational needs dictate.
