The role of Housekeeping Supervisor at Sundance Mountain Resort is a full-time benefited position, paying $21.00 per hour. This position works variable shifts from Monday to Sunday, typically scheduled between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with 4-5 shifts per week. Weekends and holidays are also required as part of the work schedule. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for inspecting and staging lodging units to ensure a positive sense of arrival for guests. This role involves reinforcing cleanliness standards through comprehensive training and documentation, managing the inspection process for piece rate tracking, and assisting with the maintenance of cottages, mountain homes, walkways, housekeeping closets, and public areas according to resort standards.

The Housekeeping Supervisor directly oversees a team of 10-15 housekeepers and housepersons, ensuring all guest accommodations and resort amenities meet the resort’s cleanliness and safety standards. This includes supervising outdoor and indoor cleaning operations, stocking amenities such as clean robes, hygiene products, and magazines, and maintaining uniform compliance among staff. The supervisor is also responsible for coordinating with other departments to address any issues promptly and guarantee smooth operations. Emphasis is placed on leadership qualities, including coaching and motivating employees, providing constructive feedback, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive work culture. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are crucial for this role, as the supervisor must handle performance matters, workplace challenges, and ensure timely completion of assigned duties.

The position requires regular physical activity, including lifting and moving materials, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Housekeeping Supervisor also manages operational logistics such as check-in/check-out of keys, radios, phones/tablets, and vehicles. They must be well-versed in electronic communication tools and potentially specialized software like Optii or SnT. Compliance with safety and appearance policies set by Sundance is mandatory, and the supervisor is expected to maintain accurate records and paperwork related to employee management and housekeeping operations. This role is ideal for candidates with supervisory experience, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for maintaining high standards in hospitality and guest services.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one to three months supervisory experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • working knowledge of internet navigation and electronic mail

  • ability to operate radio for communication with staff
  • valid U.S. drivers' license in good standing according to company insurance guidelines
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • at least 21 years of age or older

Job Duties

  • Maintain clean, orderly, and comfortable guest accommodations both indoors and outdoors
  • work outdoors in the elements or indoors in high traffic hallways based on assigned areas
  • check in and out keys, radios, and phones/tablets and vehicles from the safety office following guidelines
  • directly supervise 10-15 employees in assigned sections
  • ensure cleanliness of rooms/areas in assigned sections as well as all amenities are stocked
  • direct housepersons in maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas and ensure garbage and linen are picked up as needed
  • ensure staff follows Sundance Housekeeping standards for cleanliness and safety
  • communicate problems and requests needing attention to other departments in a timely manner
  • safely transport housekeepers to assigned areas according to housekeeping standards
  • ensure employees wear neat and complete uniforms in compliance with Sundance appearance policies
  • ensure items checked out have been returned to safety
  • complete Room Inspection checklists for every turnover/arrival unit daily and update room statuses via phone or tablet
  • assist other assigned areas to ensure all units are cleaned prior to 4:00 pm check in
  • coach employees on prioritizing duties and completing tasks to the Sundance standard
  • provide feedback on performance, praise employees, address complaints, and resolve problems
  • promote a positive work environment through employee appreciation and constructive criticism administered professionally
  • encourage and motivate employees, maintain a positive attitude to promote morale
  • use critical thinking to resolve problems
  • report performance or insubordination issues to management
  • communicate any unfinished work or challenges to prevent unresolved problems
  • attend bi-weekly progress meetings with management to assess performance trends
  • work weekly schedule approved by management based on business demands
  • complete all other duties or projects as assigned by the Housekeeping Management Team
  • carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • complete all applicable paperwork for these responsibilities and submit to HR timely
