This role demands a proactive leader who can supervise the environmental services staff and maintain exceptional cleanliness standards throughout all hospital areas including patient and non-patient spaces. The supervisor will enforce departmental policies as directed by hospital leadership, conduct regular inspections and evaluations of the facility’s condition, and recommend necessary repairs to enhance sanitation, appearance, and operational efficiency.\n\nThe Environmental Services Supervisor plays a critical role in infection control by monitoring compliance with hygiene protocols and medical waste management practices. They are responsible for ensuring the proper cleaning, disinfection, stocking, and maintenance of restrooms and other facilities. Moreover, this position requires the supervisor to plan and oversee floor care operations such as stripping, waxing, and buffing as per schedule and guarantee that all equipment, furniture, and other areas are dusted, mopped, and cleaned regularly with appropriate products to maintain a safe and sterile hospital environment.\n\nThis leadership role involves training staff continuously to uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety, managing daily cleaning logs, and ensuring hazardous materials and waste are disposed of properly. The supervisor functions as an essential liaison between the director and the cleaning team to communicate needs, report issues, and coordinate activities effectively. Flexibility in working hours including weekends and holidays is necessary to meet the demands of the healthcare setting. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in environmental services or hospital sanitation
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and management
Job Qualifications
- Experience supervising environmental services staff in a healthcare or similar facility
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and hospital sanitation standards
- Ability to inspect and maintain hospital facility cleanliness and safety
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage staff training and operational compliance
- Familiarity with medical waste management procedures
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
Job Duties
- Supervises environmental services staff and operations and ensures cleanliness of all areas of the hospital
- Enforces policies for the department as instructed by the Director
- Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the facility
- recommends repairs, improves the sanitation, appearance and efficiency
- Uses independent judgement to ensure clean, orderly and attractive conditions of the facility
- Responsible for keeping staff trained
- Monitors infection control standards and medical waste management practices as they relate to environmental services
